What a fantastic place Rick n Rolls is. We have been there a couple of times now & had such a good time (along with very late nights!) The place is comfortable, relaxing, entertaining & so much fun. Drinks are reasonably priced & the food is good as well. Especially those huge delicious burgers.

Ricky is the perfect host & everyone is made to feel welcome. Fancy a sing-along, it doesn’t matter how good (or bad) you are, this is the place to do it. The Cafe (and toilets) are immaculate! They also make a mean cocktail, check out Rick n Rolls website for upcoming event & specials. We highly recommend a night here and cannot wait to go back.

Sabai Beach Restaurant Patong Beach

Sabai Beach Restaurant has been a favorite of ours for many years now. It is one of the original Patong beachfront restaurants and every year it just keeps on getting better.

The food is fresh, delicious & very cheap. Their drink menu is also very well priced and a lot cheaper than the majority of restaurants. The staff are fantastic, very friendly & helpful, they will always remember you and even what you normally would order!

We have never had a meal here that we did not enjoy, breakfast, lunch or dinner the food is fantastic. The restaurant is in a prime location on the beach, where else can you sit with your feet in the sand & enjoy good food.

If you head north along the beach about 5 minutes walk past Bangla Rd there are 4 restaurants in a row along the beach front, Sabai is in the middle.

We have been going to Nikitas regularly now for quite a few years, the location is perfect, on the beachfront of Rawai beach. No matter how hot it is this is the perfect spot for cooling down underneath the beautiful trees with a nice sea breeze.

The menu is extensive, try their Thai style fried rice with sweetened pork, it is delicious. The food is always fresh & the staff are very good.

Prices are a little bit higher than average but it is worth it just for the lovely setting. Actually no need to keep going on about how good Nikitas is, most people already know so I will just add photos of some of their meals.

Make sure you check out their ice cream menu as well, it’s one of the best!

This is a no frills place, where the ambience is not so good, but the food is simple superb. The food is also very reasonably priced. You could either eat there or take away.

Favorite Dish: We had papaya salad, mango salad, thai green curry, noodles, vegetable rice --- all were great!!

Really tasty food that is freshly prepared for you. Be sure to choose a table on the side of the beach in a small hut, to ensure the best views!

Favorite Dish: Prawns with tamarind sauce is really good, not spicy unless you ask for the optional dried chili.

Orient Restaurant: Best Thai Food in the Area

Chicken with Garlic and Pepper

After one disappointing Thai meal & another average Thai meal, I asked a local to suggest a good Thai restaurant in the area. She actually walked me to Orient Restaurant, assuring me that the food was really good. Beings the restaurant served both Thai and Middle Eastern food, I was a tad skeptical, but decided to give it a try. The Egyptian manager was the nicest man, making sure that everything was to my liking and making polite, general conversation. The staff varied; most were nice, but a few were quite ambivalent. I ordered a Thai iced coffee, chicken with garlic & pepper, & steamed rice. The Thai iced coffee was great - not too much cream and not too sweet. When the small plate of lime wedges and diced chilis in oil prefaced my entree, I began to get excited. The bite-size pieces of chicken were deep-fried, though I'm used to having them pan sauteed. I took one cautionary bite, then dove in. It was excellent! I enjoyed the meal so much that I returned the following day to order another Thai iced coffee, beef with chili and basil, and more steamed rice. That meal was also excellent.

Fettucini with shrimp and mushrooms

Granted, this restaurant was in a heavily touristed area, but the two Italian owners/managers speaking Italian outside gave me hope that it would at least be decent. Ambience was nice enough, but service was a little slow. I ordered fettucini with shrimp & mushrooms. The shrimp were rubbery & bland; the mushrooms were the button mushrooms that come from a jar. Enough said!

Bai Toey Restaurant, Karon Beach, Phuket: Good place for Tasty Thai food
Grevil profile photo

2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Grevil 18 reviews

The Bai Toey Restaurant is one of the restaurants that are part of the Old Phuket Hotel, Karon Beach. However it is in a blocked off street to the front of the main hotel area, on the beach side, and is readily available to everyone, not just hotel guests.
We visited on 3 evenings out of 8, and tried some different dishes each time. Lovely light and tasty food, and not very spicy - at our request.
Lovely ambience, with soft old style jazz or 40s and 50s music in the background - not intrusive.
It has outdoor and indoor tables.
A blackboard out front offers a set menu of an entree and main for 199 Baht - less than $A8-.
There is also a wide selection of a la carte dishes.
Drinks are very reasonable - $A1 for a Diet cola - $A2 for a beer. A variety of mixed drinks were also available at reasonable prices.
Service was Very good - and timely! (very important in Phuket, where in some other places we waited up to an hour for our meals).

Favorite Dish: Prawns in oyster sauce ; Fried chicken with garlic and peppers (mild)
Chicken filled wantons were also good - plus many more!
Whole baked schnapper
