Patong beach is a fantastic area for shopping Thai-made products. It is the place where the main shopping scene is.

Clothes are the most common scene in Patong. Bargain is a must in Thailand. And normally the vendors offer sky-rocket prices. Remember to bargain by the 50%-75% of the value the vendors offer.

I was really surprised to see a Tesco supermarket here on Phuket-we had to go and have a look to see if it was the same as home.
To our delight it was, and we made full use of it stocking up with snacks and drinks for our afternoon sessions on our balcony.
There is a good selection of just about everything here-we especially liked the wine selection, which was probably about the same price as the UK.
We particularly found the Thai rum at around 120baht a bottle, went down really well with a splash of coke.

Bargain! Haggle! Don`t pay full price!: Save on Souveniers

All over Phuket, you will find craft and souvenir shops. I guarantee you EVERYTHING is marked up 100% or more. Never ever take the first price offered to you, counter with 50% to get a fair deal. Also, if you buy more than one of an item, bargian further for a volume discount. Another tip: bargaining works best if you tag team, the first person shows interest, the second tries to drive the price down .

What to pay: Literally, try to get prices dropped by 50%, they set prices very high to milk every baht they can out of the tourists.

I went total nuts in the shop! i love the stuff really really much! i think we stayed at the shop for like an hour and if those things are not that heavy, i would bring more back!

The owner was really nice, and u dont have to bargain like you have to do in those patong shops.

By the way, the little dog in there issssssss soooooooo cute!

Patong Beach: Keep Bargaining!

Patong Beach hosts a huge variety of shops, stalls and markets and there is without doubt something for everyone.

What to buy: If you like framed, dead scorpions, spiders and beetles then there's plenty to choose from.
Other than that they have wood carvings, batik silk , silk paintings and fans and an array of knives and weaponry.
The best buys though are jewellery - rubies, sapphires and jade. They might initially appear costly, but compare them with prices back home and you'll find you've got a bargain.
HOWEVER a word of warning - only buy expensive gems and jewellery from a recognised retailer - or you may not really be getting what you think you've paid for.

What to pay: What To Pay: Whatever you choose to buy make sure you haggle about the price. Even if they say it's their 'best price' you can guarantee a lower price of you keep trying.
