Phuket Fantasea is culture night time entertainment theme park on the Kamala Beach. The park features numerous attractions and adventure into Thailand’s ancient culture and realm of myths. Charming and beautiful classical dances from Thailand’s various regions play a prominent part in the variety of shows presented.
Phuket Fantasea is the award-winning, Las Vegas-style production spectacle colorfully blending the beauty of Thai culture with magical illusions, 4-D effects, aerial ballet, acrobatics, pyrotechnics, special effects, exciting stunts and elephant performances featuring over 44 elephants, all into one unforgettably unique theatrical experience guaranteed to delight visitors of all ages.
Besides the show at the evening, I recommend to allow urself about 2-3 hours to hang around, and enjoy the area in the park ... Full of attractions and has a very yummy Seafood Buffet, very worth to pay for it ... Strongly recommendable ... :)
We have been to Fantasea 4 times now and that is enough.
If friends are with us on holiday then they can go on their own.
Anyway it is well worth going to Phuket Fantasea, it is a 140acre theme park, with loads of activities and entertainment, a festival village with carnivals, games, handicrafts and shopping, plenty of things to blow your money on.
The Golden Kinnaree Buffet Restaurant is a 4,000-seat restaurant with a buffet of Thai and international foods, plus some great desserts.
The one and a half hour show is fantastic, great sound and light effects, (even if the story is hard to follow at times) and suitable for all ages.
If you are there low season and there are a few of you it works out cheaper to take a tuk yuk there and back and buy your tickets at the park.
There are several "must see" attractions in Phuket, and I would say that Phuket Fantasea is one of them. This is the second time Ive seen the show, and I would never tire of watching it.
Its difficult to describe this show - its a mix of acrobatics, humour, dancing, culture and animals, all rolled into one very enjoyable performance. You are not allowed to take photos inside the Palace of the Elephants, in fact you are not even allowed to take your camera inside, you have to leave it in a safety deposit box and collect it after the show.
There are also many things to do and see outside the Palace, so please allow probably at least an hour before the show commences. Shows run nightly at 9.00pm apart from Thursday nights and the cost ranges from 1400bt to about 1750bt. We paid 1400bt each for our tickets and then upgraded to gold seat when we arrived for an extra 250bt each.
This is very commercialised but of course you have to see it. The show was wonderful with all the adult elephants and the baby elephants too. It was like Alice in Wonderland with all the different places to see. When you come out from the show there are baby/young elephants waiting to greet everyone, they were so beautiful, I couldn't drag my husband away from the baby elephants and they were rewarded with food for their tricks and they were like dogs, they really enjoyed the interaction with the humans.
The meal was tasty too.
If you travel to Phuket with kids don't miss the Phuket FantaSea theme park. There is a big fishpond by the entrance and feeding them is fun. Inside the theme park are rides, shops, souvenirs, games, restaurant and the main attraction is the elephant show at the Palace of the Elephants theater.
Usually the shows start at late afternoon or nights. Photography and video recording are prohibited in the show and cameras, video recorder including mobile phone with camera are supposed to be checked in at the Camera counter as you enter the theater proper. The problem is the long queue to claim your camera after the show. Maybe it is better to hide your camera and declare you have no camera - but they are checking bags!
After the camera counter are lots of live & still mannequins for photo op (they will take your picture and you have to buy from them after the show).
The show is full of live elephants parading among the audience, going onto the stage (I think I counted 17 of them) then using them in telling the history of Kamala (that's what I think). There is a comedy/clown/magic act intermission which I think does no fit the show. Another intermission are trapeze/dance acts above your heads with lots of performers using reflective suits which are a sight to behold.
Transfer to your hotel are available after each show and until midnight only. Outside of those times you can bargain with tuk-tuk drivers.
We went to Phuket Fantasea and it was very disappointing. The show was boring, the story was boring, and the choreography was corny. The only worth watching was the costume. The acrobatic was amateurish. I have seen street buskers perform better. At the Palace of the Elephant they try to give Las Vegas style theatrical entertainment and I think it fail miserably. It was freezing when we were watching the show, obviously they didn’t control the air conditioner. One consolation I do like the carnival atmosphere.
I wouldn’t call coming here you will experience Thai culture, far from it. I wouldn’t bother wasting your money to go to Phuket Fantasea.
If you want to see circus without using animal, well train acrobat, good music, good choreography wait till Cirque Du Soleil come to your town. We went to see Varekai Cirque Du soleil in Canberra, believe me the show in Phuket Fantasea is nothing compare to Varekai Cirque Du soleil.
Hey this is only my opinion, go and see for yourself, see what you think.
Tour East - Cost in Oct 2007: 1300 baht show only, 1700 baht show/dinner
Very touristy and "showy", but loved it! Great show for the kids... my daughter kept wanting to watch the show again and again, but we went once. The buffet is not anything special though... supposed to be the largest they claim, but not largest in variety of food offered, only largest room size perhaps. The standard of the food served was also just okay. Many of it was a little cold.
This is the newest attraction in Phuket. Its like a mini carnival with games, restaurants, shopping and theatre.
You can even go for elephant ride within the compound.
Till end of October, a package costs 1880baht ( 1600 (show cum dinner) + 280 for round trip transfer) per pax. There are other packages as well.
I heard the prices are going to increase 1 Nov 2007 onwards.
You will be assigned table for the dinner, buffet spread is not impressive but good enough.
The theatre is impressive although i must say the show is pretty ok.
There seems to be a lack of coherence-ness between the storyline.
When collecting the tickets, I was asked by the staff whether I was interested to purchase their DVD video guide (with story book) for THB550 or just the story book for THB300. As we're not allowed to take any pictures/video in the theater, I bought the DVD video guide. They are also sold inside the Festival Village.
I guess this is probably the most luxurious-looking ticketing counter I've ever seen and been in my life. Friendly staff and good service. There are many counters with efficient staff. Basically, you don't even have to wait long for your turn. Just hand in your reservation details to the staff and it will be taken care of. If you originally had normal seats ticket, they will ask if you would like to upgrade your seat to gold seat with additional THB250 (subject to availability). Besides, they will also ask if you're interested to purchase the Phuket FantaSea DVD with Story Book (THB550) or Story Book without DVD (THB300). If you can't decide on the spot whether to purchase or not, don't worry. It's sold in Festival Village too.
Notice my ticket has 2 numbers: C2 & S86. C2 is our dinner table (with the exact number of seats prepared) in Golden Kinnaree Buffet Restaurant while S86 is my seat number in the show theater. I'm very impressed by their well arrangement. It's just so systematic and organized!
This is a "must" for every first-time visitor to Phuket Island. It is simply a superb and amazing cultural theme park! You won't regret it. :-)
As this is a very popular holiday destination in Phuket Island, I'd suggest you make advance online reservation before heading to Phuket. No payment/deposit is needed for the booking. You will only need to pay (by cash or major credit cards) when you go to collect your ticket. We had normal seats and the ticket costs THB1,600 per adult (THB1,200 per child) for show and buffet. I know it's expensive for some of us, but believe me, it's worth it! :-)
The evening begins with a lavish all you can eat buffet followed by free time for, sideshows, elephant rides, shopping and looking around.
After dinner you will be ushered into the "Temple of the elephants" for a award winning Las Vegas style show featuring over 30 elephants, aerial ballet and acrobatics.
The Thai costumes and sets are great and the display of historical and cultural themes throughout the show will keep everyone entertained for sure.

and acrobat show -
It was surely money worth
Phuket Fantasea will give you a night to remember when you visit here. You can take the dinner and show package or just see the show. The dinner and show package is quite nice as you sit down for a buffet before the show.
This place is a night time theme park. Full of things to see at every turn. Get there early so you can enjoy it all.
The cultural stage show after dinner is fantastic. The is a finale with 17 elephants on stage at once!
Phuket Fantasea is a night time theme park which has both indoor and outdoor games and restaurants.
You may enjoy a sumptous buffet dinner at the Golden Kinnaree Restaurant.
We chance upon this huge complex when we were driving along Kamala Beach.
There is an altar which we believe many of the worshiper are the workers from Fantasea and the locals staying around there.
