    Usually brochures at the airport or hotel will give information to book a tour to Scaramanga's Laser Cannon Facility. Usually involves a boat ride and is usually packaged together with elephant rides, ox cart rides and canoe visits to Phang Nga Bay. Take it for a day out. The fee includes lunch on a floating village. If you want to shave THB200-300 off the tour, book the tour direct and not through the hotel/resort concierge.

    We arrived at James Bond Island by longtail boat as part of a 3 in 1 tour. The sea mountains and islands around this area are stunning, although James Bond Island also has stalls and hawkers which did detract slightly from it's beauty. However the 'nail' island off it was unspoiled, and it was a good spot to go for a swim to cool off - however be warned there is mud, not sand, out from the shallows which makes for an unpleasant shock if you put your feet down!

    We bought the James Bond day tour package from our hotel. As our stay in Phuket was quite short, we had to choose either Phi phi island or James bond island. We ended up choosing James bond because this tour is more scenic. It actually includes a snorkeling section somewhere about 20 mins east from boat lagoon. There were a few small rocky islands there. Water was so clear and we saw at least 5 different colors of fish there. Besides the James bond island, the tour also stopped at the Muslim fish village near Phang Nga Bay. The whole village is built on the water. Pretty amazing! On the way to Phang Nga Bay, we also passed all these different looking rocks. Very beautiful - I think that's what makes it more special than going to Phi Phi. On the way back we also stopped at another beach (don't remember the name) for an hour. The water is so clear there that you could be swimming with fish around you.

    We took a van trip for about an hour to get over to a large estuary area on the east side of Phuket for the "James Bond Island Tour." Stopped along the way and saw a cave and fed some monkeys as well. Without a doubt the best part was the boat trip out to the island and the almost surreal topography out among the islands. Without a doubt the most beautiful place I saw down there... James Bond Island itself wasn't anything special, but the rest of the trip was fantastic. If memory serves it was something like $20-$30. The van ride wasn't great, but definitely worth it!

    When you get to James bond Island you pull up on the opposite side of the island where you cannot see the rock. You have to walk 100 yards down a dock and climb a rocky path to get a good view.

  • Would recommend without hesitation the trip to James Bond Island. If you are staying in South Phuket (we were at Kata Beach) it is a couple of hours on a coach, but absolutely worth it (and I hate long coach journeys!!) The journey out there through Phang Nga Bay is breathtaking and James Bond island is just stunning. You can swim out the the rock at high tide, and explore around the tiny island. A fantastic day out.

  • You have to go cannoing .... the tour people take you to different caves, where you can take amazing photos, they will give you lunch and then take you for a swim. I paid 105BAHT per person (it goes from about 9am to 5.30pm) - Be aware that I actually paid an overpriced tour - you can get them cheaper from the locals.
