This photo was taken from a lookout on the hills above Kata beach. Some of the views of the coastline and beaches from the mountains around Kata beach and Kata Noi beaches in particular are sensational, as is the road from there to Rawai beach. Also the road from Patong to Karon beach also has some excellent viewpoints and you can stop for a Chang beer along the way like I did if you want. ;-) My advice would be to get your own transport, weather it be bike or car and pack up the travel companions and just drive the island. Then you can stop off where-ever you want to. I would start with the southern tip of the island and have a sensational seafood lunch in Rawai beach. Leave a Comment Address: Kata beach then go up the big hill from the beachDirections: South from Patong along the coast road through Karon beach then turn right off the main road through the town of Kata. From there you go up the big hill to the lookout and over the other side to Rawai beach for a seafood lunch.Enjoy!

Kata View Point can be accessed through the well paved winding road. The same road will lead you to Promthep Cape where you can have an awesome view of the orange sunset. Once you are up here, you are able to have a paranomic view of the spectacular and very beautiful beaches of the Kata Noi, Kata and Karon beach. Leave a Comment Address: Kata

Kata and Kata Noi are two scenic beaches just south of Karon. Kata, the larger of the two, is one of the nicest beaches on the island. It is a small bay, not much more than a kilometer long wrapped in green mountains. Although the beach is public, it is dominated by the huge Club Med Resort, which has taken practically all the prime landsite. Kata village runs behind Club Med, with most of the development concentrated at either end of the bay. Kata has a nice balance, with a fair portion of nightlife places combined with good amenities to go with a relaxed atmosphere, and natural beauty in abundance. It is a place ideal for those who don't like everything right in their face, yet with enough going on to keep most people happy. Further south is Kata Noi Beach, another beautiful bay. The beaches are great for families, there is good snokerlling and the water is usually calm. Leave a Comment

We enjoyed at Kata beach before raining. Over the shore we saw a little island name Koh Poo or can say in English name crab island, they said because of its shape but I couldn’t see that shape hmmm just round shape I saw. I think to swim in this beach will be rather safer than Patong and Karon as the beach is shallow, also long and curving. Next to Kata beach is another small curving beach call Kata noi, another beautiful smaller one. Leave a Comment Directions: west of the island

This view point offers an overview of Kata Noi beach, Kata beach and Karon Noi beach. At the far left is called Pu Island. It is located between Nai Harn beach and Kata Noi beach. If you are driving from Nai Harn to Kata Noi, you will most probably pass this View Point. The best time to visit this place is in the morning around 5pm and in the evening 5.30pm. These timings are the best for those who likes to watch sunrise and sunset. Leave a Comment Directions: In between Nai harn beach and Kata Noi beach.

Karon beach is beautiful, large and long curving beach. The sand is very white, clean and clear water. We so much enjoyed there. By the time we visited, it looked like only group of us there. Both photos were taken in the jungle before get to the beach... Leave a Comment Directions: west of the island

Kata Viewpoint is a good spot to enjoy scene of the sea, 3 bays ; Kata Noi, Kata and Karon. The view point located just few minutes drive away south from Kata beach. After we enjoyed the great view, at the view point we rest at public pavilion where all around, some food stalls, food vendors, drinks and small souvenir shops set up. Leave a Comment

Karon Beach, a long stretch of unspoilt white sand nestled between Patong and Kata beach, is located on the southwest coast of Phuket Island. Karon, the second largest of Phuket's principal beaches, is quiet and relaxed with its sights set firmly on the family market. Good local restaurants, small guesthouses, larger resorts offering extensive sports and recreational facilities and of course, the beach, are Karon's attractions. Nightlife... is not as varied or raucous as Patong. Karon is a place for enjoying a good local meal, drinking outdoors with friends or watching the world go by. It's quiet but if you want a change of scene, Kata village is within walking distance, and Patong a short drive for a more action packed night out. The beach... offers masses of room and is rarely crowded. Cold drinks, fruit, sarongs are all available from passing vendors and local restaurants set up on the beach, so you don't need to move unless it's to hire a jet-ski or go snorkelling at the southern end which has a coral reef stretching around the headland towards Kata. The sand...is a unique Karon phenomena. Walk on this perfect white sand and you'll hear it squeak with every step! No one seems to know why! From November to April, Karon offers perfect conditions, but from May to October swimming can be dangerous because of strong undertows, but there are plenty of hotel pools to take a dip. The most popular beach in Phuket is patong, in my opinion it's just good for shopping or night life as the seaside is full of water motobike that makes the colour of the sea water grey. I particulary loved Kata beach just 5 minuts from Patong, but there are many other beautiful ones as Kambala beach or Sirun beach. Leave a Comment

Karon is a great place to visit for the day if you are either stuck in Phuket Town or you want to get away from the chaos of Patong. There are are basically two long roads of shops, restaurants and bars and the numerous sois which run off them. One of them, Karon Road, follows the coast and has plenty of good restaurants and a nice stretch of beach. The other is Patak Road, which snakes inland, taking in all the beer bars, tailor shops and souvenir stores, as well as the local wat. Karon is a great little place and has most of what you'd find in Patong, only more spread out and low key. It's worth a trip. Leave a Comment
