Karon Beach

Karon Beach is the second largest beach in Phuket. Located just south of Patong Beach, it is easily accessible by the well paved roads. Karon Beach is a world of difference from Patong Beach. It is more peaceful here and without all the sleazy bars and noise which makes it a perfect place for family with young kids to hang around. The sand is very white and fine over here and a very nice beach where you can do your water sports or just relax and read a book or sun tan on the beach. There are lots of upmarket resorts along Karon Beach area. There are many restaurants, bars, tour companies at the north end near the traffic circle.We almost stayed at Kata Villa (THB500) but in the end we stayed at Casa Jip (THB400) at the heart of Patong Beach.

Karon Beach

My husband and I stayed in Patong Beach at Holiday Inn, but when we saw the beach and the water we felt so dissapointed!!!, then we stayed always at the pool but the last day we decided to go to Karon Beach and was very surprising, we realize that just 15 minutes far away there was a really beautiful beach, we remind our trip to Phi Phi when we saw Karon, besides it's more exclusive, there are no so much people, no so much children, there were very good umbrellas, secluded, big and clean beach, clean and clear water, no hawkers, (they have an organized little market), wonderful!!!. But I didn't see hotels on the beach, as in Patong you have to cross the street. So if you want shopping and drinking, would be better if you go to Patong, but if you want a more relaxing holidays and more nicer hotels, then go to Karon.

Composed of 2 lovely beaches called Kata Yai (Big Kata) and Kata Noi (Small Kata) separated from each other by a small headland, Kata Beach is a thriving resort, suitable for holiday makers who look for tranquil surrounding with bright sun, white sand, a calm clear sea and a colourful underwater world

Kata Beach

The three biggest beaches in Phuket are Patong, Karon and Kata. On Ranong Rd. in front of the day market there's a local bus station to various beaches. If you prefer beach more to people then take a bus to Beach Kata or Karon. It costs 25B and 45 minutes. Beach Patong is rather crowded. There's no bus going between Patong and Kata or Karon. You can take a tuk-tuk. To get back to the town from Patong, take the bus with 20B and 30 minutes.

Kata Noi Beach

Located south of Kata is Kata Noi Beach. It is a smaller beach with only a few hotels and a few other developments. The beach is beautiful and very peaceful. I was able to take a good shot from one of the hotels up over the top of the hill from Kata. You can have a gret view of Kata Noi Beach shoreline from Kata View Point.

Kata Beach

Kata is about 20 to 30 minutes drive from Patong and about 40 minutes to Phuket Town. Kata Beach is a world of difference from Patong Beach. It is more peaceful here and without all the sleazy bars and noise which makes it a perfect place for family with young kids to hang around. Although Kata beach is smaller than Patong, it still offers similar amenities like beautiful beachfront resorts, restaurants and great shopping. The stretch of long and narrow white sandy beach are lined with palm trees overlooking the clear water and the offshore Bu island.

Karon and Kata are quieter and much cleaner beaches than Patong are more like a family destination that are still unspoiled from mass tourism and developments

Located between Kata and Nai Harn and perhaps one of the best views in Phuket someone can see the bays of Kata, Kata noi and Karon great place to be on sunset

Karon Beach at Sunset

Karon Beach is the second main beach of Phuket after Patong. There are many guesthouses, hotels, restaurants near this beach.The beach is less crowded here. If weather permits, you can catch a good sunset here too...
