More beaches and caves: Laem Sing - the most beautiful beach
  • Tip Rating:
  • Absolutely gorgeous beach, maybe the most beautiful in Phuket (seen them all I think) if you dont mind the growd. Nice palmtrees and special rocks. No medusas. Good restaurant. The only downpoint is that the stairs down to the beach are absolutely horrible - dont go if you have any fysical disabilities. And getting back up is eaven worse of course. Take tuk tuk or go by scooter.

  • Directions: 1-2km north from Kamala beach, small parking area for scooters, the stairs down start just next from the road

More beaches and caves: Beautiful Nai Han Beach next to National Park
  • Tip Rating:
  • This is the beautiful pristine Naihan Beach down the bottom end of Phuket Island at the start of the national park. You can eat local Muslim Thai food from the beach food vendor situated at the foreground where this picture was taken from. The water is crystal clear unlike the murky water back at Patong beach which I dont encourage you to swim in due to the many water borne infections you can catch there. The few beach vendors tend to be selling food rather then the pesky ones trapsing the beach at Patong peddling all manner of needless items.

More beaches and caves: Monkey Beach
  • Tip Rating:
  • Monkey Beach is so called because there are lot of monkeys hanging around here on this beach. They keep waiting for any boat to arrive. The moment any boat arrives, they start jumping with joy. They know that tourists have something to offer to them. This beach is located in Yong Kasem Bay which is a short distance from Loh Dalam Beach on Phi Phi Don Island. The water is very clean here. Our tour Guide told us that there are good Snorkel sites just a few metres away from the beach

More beaches and caves: Along the western coast
  • Tip Rating:
  • The Phuket western coast is breathtaking. The road that leads Rawai beach in the southern part of the island to Surin beach is really spectacular. It's a succession of bays and beaches and the road overwiews them. Apart from the beaches, rubber plantations and lots of trees along the road expecially in the first part of the road. From beginning you have Rawai beach, Promthep cape, Nai Harn beach, Kata beach, Karon beach, Patong, Kamala, Singh cape and finally Surin beach. Each of these place is a treasure on its own (apart from the turistic Patong which is interesting for nightlife).

More beaches and caves: Lone beaches - they exist!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Phukets beaches are mostly not that deserted as the one in the picture - even if we are not talking about Patong beach. The beach on the picture was in a National Park north of Phuket island. We "found" it on a one day safari up there.

  • Sunset at Nai Harn Beach - Phuket
    Sunset at Nai Harn Beach

Nai Harn Beach is located near the southern tip of Phuket. Besides the popular Laem Promthep which is often overcrowded with tourists from big buses, you can also catch the sunset at this quiet beach. Before 5 pm, you can catch the public bus which is actually a big pickup from Phuket Town and the other main beaches that the pickup passes by. However, after catching the sunset, there will be no more public transport and the pickup drivers will usually quote rather steep prices for trips back.

More beaches and caves: A Slow Boat to discover the bay
  • Tip Rating:
  • We did a full day trip aboard the June Batra. This was a really peaceful way to see Phang Nga Bay. It took you to James Bond Island, Sea gypsies Village, and passed many beautiful islands. It also uses a long boat to get you to the shore, on many of these trips. For those German tourists, they have a translator on board.

More beaches and caves: Rawai Beach
  • Tip Rating:
  • I am a bit dissapointed with this beach as it looks more like a fishing village than a beach.

More beaches and caves: Sea Canoeing
  • Tip Rating:
  • Quite a fun trip to do, Canoeing through caves and around the 'Hongs'. Was in this Batcave that was pitch dark, the guide was so experienced that all he need is a small torch tied on his head, by shining around, he managed to get us through without any problem... it's really dangerous if you get a inexperienced guide, cause there're limestones hanging down from the top, can be hit anytime... There was this exit at the end of the cave...it was so small that we have to lay on our back, twist our heads , to avoid being hit, no offences but...definately not for people with big tummy. Food onboard the ferry was good local homecooked dishes, enjoyed myself.
