    This is the 3rd picture which i took from Left to right of patong beach town. I dont have the software to combain it to become one, so i made it like this, patong area (left), patong area 2 (centre) and patong area 3 (right). If you combine it together, the result will be a beautiful view of patong beach town.

    For those who like a big bike, here the place for gathering "Harley Tour" pub, this is where all the bikers will have drinks in a group and has lots of nice big harley davidson park along the road. The biker also look scary with their angry face, big body and mustache, tatoo and their black lather jaket... Just imagine how they are, it really made you stay away from them... but some of them who are young, they look cute too... hehehe. Basically after songran festival, they will have a bike week. All a big biker will make noise with their big motobike, you even can hearing their bike from 300meters away, when sometimes make a noise with a big bike and not always people with a big bike, people wanted to know, whos the rider (who knows if he is a cute guy.. hehehe ), but after awhile, u will get annoing by that.. it is annoying. I have been advice by my friend, he said, do not make trouble with them, expacially a biker with their jacket has a small cross red logo (X), if you did, i promise you wont go home forever.... On the first nite of that bike week, friend have told me that, there are 3 people died because of fighting, on that nite when i was at the bangla road, there is a small fight, a small guy with a big guy from the big bike rider... i hope that small guy are ok. Most local people wont go out during that week, afraid of free bullet.

    Patong Beach is about 20 minutes on the other side. So from Phuket Town, you can get a tuk-tuk or a jeep that will bring you over a small hills to the beaches facing the Andaman Sea. There are rows of umbrellas over lazy chairs with coconut drinks, fruits and a massage on demand by the many peddlars and souvenir sellers. Care for another dip in the seas or any water sports? One cannof of course forget the horrors of the tsunami that happened on this very beach. I was there before the tsunami but hope things have returned back to "normal" There are many hotels, restaurants and nightlife behind the shoreline and further inland.

    For 700 baht, you can go for a parasail on the beach. It must be an amazing experience. I never did it myself because I wasn't insured for it (I know, I know, no sense of adventure). I was content to stay on terra firma. I watched people sign up for the parasail and they seemed pretty thorough. You don't have to book, except at sunset when it is busy (and 300 baht more expensive).

    When i was there at patong, some places are still under construction, New building, as well as new trees at the beach area expacially.

    What sets Patong from other beaches is the roads that run parallel to it. Tawiwong Road runs along the beach front. Rat-U-Thit Songroi Pi Road runs parallel but further inland. Both in walking distance. Littered along these two roads are the hotels, resorts and eateries. There is a stark contrast between day and night. In the day, this place looks like some backwater town that looks like anywhere with lots of people. At night, the place comes alive with neon lights, vendors and music. The famed Bangla Road joins both roads together somewhere in the middle. No cars are allowed in Bangla Road after 6pm. As usual, my warnings of shopping here. Don't! You can even find better deals at Jungceylon or Central Festival. The pushcarts at Central Festival do sell the same stuff as Patong like T-shirts and nice headscarf bands for girls for less than Patong's opening bargain. For example the headscarf band which you see Edwina wearing in some of the photos here sells for THB59 in Central Festival. Suffice to say, don't pay more than THB59 for it. I got it for THB50 elsewhere. I was quoted THB100 for this same item as an opening quote on Patong. The deck chairs and parasols are not free. You got to pay THB100 for rental of a deck chair should you use one. In short, use your own beach towel or blanket if you did pack one. Better still, if a beach is what you need get accomodations with their own beach, maybe get to Khao Lak instead (hint ;) ) The parasol will cost you another THB100.

    Even though we stayed away from the crowds during our time in Phuket & enjoyed the peace and quiet of Kamala Bay, we still had to go into Patong at least twice. The market stall holders are usually starting to set up from about 4pm but the most activity starts after dark. The bars & clubs don't liven up until after 9pm so we usually are out of there by then, especially as we had our 13 year old with us. Patong has a huge selection of restaurants with all the tastes of the world available. If you can't find something to eat in Patong you'd be crazy. We went in mainly to shop, but also to watch the whole Patong scene as only 12 months before it had been destroyed in the Boxing Day tsunami. They have rebuilt it better & cleaner than before.

    Located on the west side of the island with more than 3 kilometres of white sandy beach Patong is the most crowed beach in Phuket especially in high season with many water sport events and restaurants near the beach

    If you do not dive or snorkel, dislike excursions, shopping and etc, just relax on the beach with your book and enjoy the sun and sound of waves. There are many beach chairs and umbrellas but you need to pay a small amount and you can enjoy the whole day under the sun. Alternatively, you can bring your own beach mats or towels. Cheers!

    I think that Patong beach and %L[http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/9eab8/16200d/ ]Ban Patong must be the same thing. Or not? Anyway, I'll post my Patong beach comments in Ban Patong page. And Patong was precious for us. With the monsoon, Kata beach was unsafe, so we came often to Patong, where only the colour of the water and the many algae denounced the rough sea. No problem to the swim and nautical sports.
