    Patong beach is the most popular beach in Phuket because most of the big Phuket hotels are situated here as well as most of the shops. Patong beach is a hive of activity everyday and you can go there just for a dip or to try the abundance of watersports available, or as some do,just for the deckchair service of food and drinks and to watch the world go by in front of you. You can do all kinds of shopping from your deckchair as well as have a massage or parasail, or rent a jetski and the ladies can even have their hair and nails done, as my friend Jody did. Patong beach is well worth a visit and to me the afternoons are best as the mornings can be too hot.

    Patong is a great place for activities and sports, there are a lot of people jogging, walking, playing beach volleyball, playing soccer/football, picnicking etc... Always an active place!

    Patong is the central tourist town on the west coast of Phuket. It's where all the action (and noise) is if you like that sort of place. I've never stayed there for that reason, but it's worth a visit and a look around, if for nothing more than a reminder of just what excesses mass tourism goes to and how it changes a place. Just imagine Patong Bay with no gaudy town... it's an almost semi-circular bay and I am sure it would be a lovely spot without all the concrete and human activity on the shore.

    Patong is the longest beach in Phuket streching approximately 3 km from one end to the other. It is surrounded by hotels, resorts, nightlife, restaurants and shopping possibilities. You will see 3 or 4 rows of sunbathing chairs totally occupied afternoon. There are water sport activities you can get involved in. If you don't enjoy too crowded beaches, you either need to come early in the morning just like I did or you choose a less crowded beach like Kata or Karon.

    Phuket is famous mainly for beaches, island tours, nightlife and its people. There are numerous beaches in Phuket and it is difficult to rate them. Patong beach is the busiest of all because of its proximity to the most crowded part of the island. We visited the island during the rainy season-in the month of August and the sea was in in full vigour. This is Patong beach, right next to our Royal Palm Beach Resort. Just cross the road and you are on the beach. The moment you arrive at the beach, you will be confronted by the beach boys who would like you to buy their services like jet skiing, parasailing, rental of beach umbrella and benches. We paid THB 100 for a pair of beach bunches. There is no time limit. You may laze out for the whole day, if you have time. Massage service, hair beeding facilities also available on the beaches

    The activities can be done here are swimming, sun bathing, thai massage,banana boat, water skiing and parachuting. It's a crawded beach.

  • The beach in Patong is huge (4 miles i think) and its a beautiful alternative to the sleaze of patong at night. sometimes i went running on the sand at night. it seemed to be a safe beach with no undesirables hanging out there after dark. there were also plenty of tiny sand crabs emerging from the sand and scuttling about the place which was interesting! never swim at night though. when the red flag shows on this beach, do take notice of it. i went swimming in this water and it was very very rough, for the experienced swimmer only.

  • The second time i went there was in Last 30 August 06, it is a wet seasons on that time, so on the first day i was there, it is a little cloudy, and it get wet when it come to everning. Basically the weather is not that bad, but when it come to the wave at the beach, it a little rough, its different when my first visit which is in April, almost to it wet seasons. i was there for 5 days and for the 1st and 2nd day it is wet and windy, not really cool for being at the beach and i did not see anyone at the beach on that time, not many visitors as high seasons which always busy and pack with people at any part of phuket you go, and on the 3rd day until my last day there, it was so sunny, and the weather is beautiful, it make me miss the place when i am passing by the beach on my way to the airport. by the way, i dont have a picture during wet seasons on phuket, just kind of lazy to carry my camera along, because the weather is being lazy, so it made me lazy too. i guess the next trip to phuket, i will be coming on a high seasons.
