Phuket Fantasea: FantaSea Cultural Show
  • Tip Rating:
  • It's a feast for the eyes and ears. Very clever way of telling the story of the Thai people from their mystical beginnings to the people of today. Buy your ticket at the front gate. If you can, get a Gold seat (approx TB$1250). There are two Gold sections. Get a seat in the upper section further back from the stage in the front couple of rows and make sure you're central. Reason: alot of stuff happens off stage and if you're in the upper Gold section, you'll have the best view. When you buy your ticket, you can also get a banquet/ show combo. The banquet is set out in a huge palace that seats 5000. If you don't go for this option, there are plenty of other types of eaterys inside from resturaunts to junk food stalls. While waiting for the show, you'll have heaps to occupy you with cultural dance performances, Thai traditional music displays, side show alleys, elephant rides, photos with tigers and a waiter that has a routine which is a cross between the movie Cocktail and Coyote Ugly (until he drops the flaming wine bottle whilst blindfolded - but that's another story). Hint: Don't pay for a ride on the elephant before the show. If you want a photo sitting on one, wait til after the show when they bring out the younger ones and you can sit on them for a photo for free. On the subject of cameras/ camcorders: These will not be allowed into the show itself and thorough bag checks are conducted. You can check your photographic gear in at the counter where you'll be given a number to exchange for your gear after the show. All the shops sell a Video/ DVD of the park which, surprisingly, is not available anywhere else. It only goes for about 15mins and is mainly a promo for the park. If you're after footage of the show to show the folks at home, you may be disappointed. Apart from the experience, you'll come away with the theme song which can be heard throughout the park and will take weeks, maybe even months to forget!

    Phuket Fantasea: FantaSea
  • Tip Rating:
  • A wildly ambitious $20 million cultural theme park near Kamala Bay which compares itself to a Las Vegas extravaganza showcasing Thai culture. As a spectacle it is certainly amazing with 30 or so elephants, mock battles, pyrotechnics and aerial ballet in an auditorium that seats 2,000 just part of the entertainment. It is certainly not for serious students of Thai culture, but is a beautifully choreographed and delightful piece of theatre. The park opens at 5.30 pm and a cultural shopping village and fairground set in a mocj Ayuthaya or Angkorian city greets the visitors. Everything is on a grand scale and works very professionally, and although it is designed to help you spend your money as quickly as possible, one cannot help being impressed by its buffet hall holds 4,000 people and the food is quite good too. The show starts at 9 pm and lasts an hour and 20 mintues. The show & buffet costs 1,500 Bhat.

  • When I first saw the posters for FantaSea, I thought-wow got to go there, and I did. Although the show was entertaining, I felt that it was all a bit plasticky and not what you would expect in Thailand. As you go into the palace of the elephants you can have your photo taken with a baby tiger or an elephant or two. Be warned you have to give your camera in-there is no photography allowed. However, it is secure and your camera is placed in a bag and you are given a numbered colour coded token to collect your camera after the show. It was well organised and you could collect your camera and any photographs you may have had taken without too much waiting The kids will love it!

Phuket Fantasea: Fantasea 1: Eye Candy!!!
  • Tip Rating:
  • There is just so much to see here! The minute you're picked up, you are already somewhat struck by the colorful costume worn by the driver. So much color & art & so many things that you want to take photos of just so you can remember every little detail about this place forever. Taking pictures & taking in every detail they put in into the resort aesthetics was what I spent most of our free time on. We were picked up at 5, got there at 6 so we had plenty of time to walk around the park before dinner. From the entrance, you are already greeted by people in bright, colorful traditional Thai costumes that guide you to everything. That & the golden elephants on the columns & the magnificent epic art on the ceiling is what you'll see first, and this isn't even inside the park yet. Inside, there're statues of water spirits & other mythical Thai characters, not to mention an elephant made entirely of Pepsi cans. Trust me, you'll want your camera fully charged for this place. If taking pictures doesn't interest you, there's still plenty to keep you busy here. The band welcomes you in Festival Village when you walk in as well as other little side performances like the bartender &her bottle flinging tricks. You can also shop or window shop to your heart's content as there are many themed shops here as well as little stalls that sell little Thai trinkets for souvenirs. If shopping & sightseeing isn't your cup of tea, there's also Hanuman's Lair. All lit in black light, everything glows in the dark including the cutest blowfishes & the most adorable sharks! After gawking at everything, take a chance at the carnival games they offer here where you can win big stuffed animals. If this still isn't fun for you, there's a few cafes here where you can just chill & have a few quite expensive cocktails before dinner. There's something for everyone here! :)

    Phuket Fantasea: Fantasea
  • Tip Rating:
  • Fantasea is a large theme type park with loads of shopping, the biggest resturant in the world, seats three thousand people and the food was the best we had in Phuket, loads of diffrent types meats soups and vegie's as well as a huge selection of sweets. Now comes the best part, the show its self, you are not aloud to take your camera into the show but you can buy a video or dvd of it. The show is based on a true storie from the past in Thailand. On stage there are Elelephants, ducks birds monkeys and of course loads of perfomers. I would say it was one of the best stage show's i have ever seen, at one stage there where up to 12 elephants on stage as well as 40 or performers. Its must see on your trip to Phuket. The magnificent Palace of the Elephants is a state-of-the-art theater with wonderful acoustics and seating for 3,000 people. Fronted by a glorious reconstruction of a Sukhothai-era stone palace, with intriguing elephant statues, the theater puts on a spellbinding show combining culture and illusion that is almost beyond belief.

  • Phuket Fantasea is a night time theme park which has both indoor and outdoor games and restaurants. You may enjoy a sumptous buffet dinner at the Golden Kinnaree Restaurant. We chance upon this huge complex when we were driving along Kamala Beach. There is an altar which we believe many of the worshiper are the workers from Fantasea and the locals staying around there.

    Phuket Fantasea: Fantasea
  • Tip Rating:
  • We have been to Fantasea 3 times now and that is enough. If friends are with us on holiday then they can go on their own. Anyway it is well worth going to Phuket Fantasea, it is a 140acre theme park, with loads of activities and entertainment, a festival village with carnivals, games, handicrafts and shopping, plenty of things to blow your money on. The Golden Kinnaree Buffet Restaurant is a 4,000-seat restaurant with a buffet of Thai and international foods, plus some great desserts. The one and a half hour show is fantastic, great sound and light effects, (even if the story is hard to follow at times) and suitable for all ages. If you are there low season and there are a few of you it works out cheaper to take a tuk yuk there and back and buy your tickets at the park.

  • Well, I was pleasantly surprised by the show. I didn't enjoy watching the exploitation of both animals and tourists outside for photographs and the bungling of animals in and out of one person's arms after another, but that was just one side of it. Unfortunately I cannot provide any pictures of Fantasea other than outside in the park as cameras were not permitted. They had to be submitted to the check-in desk before you walked in. Actually, they are quite lax and don't thoroughly check your bags, so to save problems, you could just hide your camera and not go through the dramas of long queues to deposit then pick up your gear. There is so much to do and see for children at Fantasea - before you go inside to watch the show, so be sure to get there as early as possible. They have costume dressups with pictures taken, games, elephant rides etc. Kids will LOVE IT!! We paid for Gold seats (1,250 baht), but I wouldn't bother if I could get seats in the centre of row R. Row R is the first row of seats on the second tier of seats. You won't have any tour groups of Japanese people sitting in front of you, all wearing their sports caps that you can't see past. I don't know why they wear caps at night, in a theatre, but after the people in front of us had been looking up for the action above us, they pushed the peaks of their caps up, out of their way. It interfered with the little girl with me and my view. Steve is a bit taller and was ok.

  • Tip Rating:
  • Didn't go because I wanted to go, but as the tickets were included in the package.. so why not? It turned out to be better than I expected~ Phuket Fanta Sea is a.... theme park i guess.. it is actually the winner of several Thailand tourism awards in the past few years. U can do a lot of shopping inside.. i bought a lot of elephant stuffs.. really cute! ^_^ Some Thai boxing "SHOW" ( it's really a show cuz i think they actually had rehersal on every move), some game stalls.. and a biggest-buffet-restaurant in Asia.. it sure was big... but i guess when u eat, "BIG" is not your concern ... And then there is this "Fantasy of a Kingdom" Show.. starts at 9pm and lasts for about 1.5 hrs. It's not the best show i saw.. but its okay.. full of entertainment and traditional thai stuffs... and u get to see the elephants.. the sheeps.. the cows.. the chickens.. in the show.. unfortunately.. photo-taking is not allowed!! Bottom line is.. i won't pay for it.. but if its included in your package or somehow u got the ticket.. it's worth the transportation cost... (round trip about 200baht from patong)

Phuket Fantasea: New kid on the block
  • Tip Rating:
  • This is the newest attraction in Phuket. Its like a mini carnival with games, restaurants, shopping and theatre. You can even go for elephant ride within the compound. Till end of October, a package costs 1880baht ( 1600 (show cum dinner) + 280 for round trip transfer) per pax. There are other packages as well. I heard the prices are going to increase 1 Nov 2007 onwards. You will be assigned table for the dinner, buffet spread is not impressive but good enough. The theatre is impressive although i must say the show is pretty ok. There seems to be a lack of coherence-ness between the storyline.
