Prom Thep Cape is the southern-most point of Phuket Island and is (best in the dry season) the place to view the sunset. It is a stunning location overlooking Kho Man (Island) and several of Phuket's capes including Rawai, Yanui and Nai Harn Yacht Club.
There are some market stalls in the carpark which I thought would be expensive due to the high number of tourists visiting, but I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised to find that the prices of everything were the cheapest I have seen anywhere in Phuket. In fact, they're so cheap that we didn't even bother bargaining. We bought silk and cotton mens shirts, I got a cotton wrap shirt and sarong. We bought hats and t-shirts too.
There is also a restaurant located at Promthep Cape, but I have not dined there.
The name of the lighthouse here is Kanchanaphisek Lighthouse. Inside you will find a mini-lighthouse museum. Not terribly interesting and the views are not much better than from the landing. Your visit however, along with your voluntary donation helps to keep things going.
You can also see the monument to the Prince of Jumborn who, in 1880 was in the navy. He was the 28th son of Rama 5th. At the age of 13 he became a naval cadet in England. He returned 6 years later and built the first military base in Phuket.
At the landing where you reach the lighthouse, you will also find a Buddhist Shrine complete with hundreds, if not thousands of elephants where people gather to pay homage to the elephant. You can purchase joss sticks and flowers there if you wish to participate, but remember to remove your shoes before entering. I saw a mother teaching her young daughter to wei to the elephants.
A stunning location. Visit somewhere nearby such as the Rawai fishing village in the afternoon and try to arrive here for sunset (about 6.10pm is a good time to get there, if you want to do some shopping before, arrive a little earlier). Laem Promthrep Cape: a good viewing point on several Beaches - (also see the 3 beaches point).
In the evening there are a lot of tourists here to see the sunset.
Because this is a common touristic spot here, you also have little shops and stands for food and drink.
If you have never seen the stink fruit, this is the place you get it.
There is also a small religious site here. It is surrounded by many statuettes of elefants. (see pic) Leave a Comment Address: south western end of Phuket island

You may like to view the sunset from Patong Beach, Kata View Point and the best place is at Promthep Cape which have an unblocked view of the sea.
We drove our rented car up to Promthep cape. Do get there slightly before the sunset and the best view is just before the sun is setting. The view from Promthep Cape is breathaking. It is cooling just before the sunset, so you may like to sit by the restaurant and have a drink or dinner.
There were 3 person who circled in the air on their motorized parachute. I think that would be a great way to see the sun set. But it added some noise poluation to the peaceful sunset view. Leave a Comment Address: Promthep Cape

Sad thing is I never see the sunset there =( because it was raining just before sunset. Thing to note ... never go to Phuket during the raining season! You will not enjoy it.

Phom Thep Cape or we call in Thai Laem Phrom Thep, seems a symbol of Phuket, located in the south of the island. It’s the best viewpoint of Phuket, very easy to get there by car. There are many shops, food stalls, souvenirs shops and large area to enjoy the great view of the sea. Its also well known as the great place to admire sun set of Phuket in the evening. I can see how its popular, so crowded !! and I had to stay in traffic jam for a while after the sun goes down … Leave a Comment

Phrom Thep Cape is between Rawai and Nai Harn beaches. The cape has great views of the small island of Koh Kaew Yai and the Andaman Sea, and is a very popular place to watch the sunset.
The cape is named after Brahma, the Hindu god of creation At the top is a shrine dedicated to this God. For an even better view, climb up the stairs to the platform in the Golden Jubilee Lighthouse. The lighthouse also contains a small nautical museum.
Kata View Point
A pavillion by the side of the road between Kata and Nai Harn marks the spot for this viewpoint. On a clear day, the view of the bays of Kata Noi, Kata Yai, Karon and Pu Island are fantastic.
Rang Hill
The views from this hill have lovely views across Phuket city. There is a fitness park at the top as well as a statue of Phuket's most famous governor, Ratsada Korsimbi Na Ranong. The best reason to visit Rang Hill is to have a meal at one of the hill-top restaurants. The view at night, is amazing.

Kanchanaphisek Lighthouse is a mini-lighthouse museum. You can have a 360 degree view of the Promthep Cape and its surrounding from here. But we still prefers the sunset at the landing area.
You must remove your footware at the entrance. Please remain silence so that you will not disturb the rest.

Today, the Promthep Cape is a favourite point where locals and visitors would visit to have an overview breathtaking panoramic view overlooking the southern tip of Phuket. The best time to visit is as the sun sets over the Andaman Sea. However, don’t miss the sunrise if you can make it there at that hour, as many people feel it is even more spectacular and the crowds are a lot smaller.
