    We visited Wat Chalong a Sacred Buddhist Temple in Phuket. The architecture is typical of WATS temples found throughout Thailand. It is located on the southern outskirts of Phuket Town and about 8-9km. They are twenty nine monasteries in Phuket. Wat Chalong is the most impressive, elaborate and famous temple in Phuket. Many Thai from the mainland visited once a year to Wat Chalong to be blessed by the monks for prosperity and luck. The monks tied string around the wrist to protect the believers from illness. They are many stories of miracles floating around with the locals, especially the story of how the temple performed many healing role during the Chinese coolie’s rebellion in 1876. You can take a glimpse part of Buddha tooth which the historians believed was imported from Sri Lanka. It is located in one of the temple in a glass within the glass enclosure (see photo). Outside the temple they are several stores selling souvenir and refreshment. Remember Wat Chalong is a worship temple so have respect, follow the rules and regulation. The Thai said if you don’t visit Wat Chalong you haven’t been to Phuket. So in that note go and visit Wat Chalong.

    Accordding to the locals, Wat Chalong is the second biggest temple in Phuket. The sophisticated architecture is definitely astonishing.

    Is the biggest Wat(temple) in Phuket Island. Although not as grand as can be seen in Bangkok,it is indeed a nice building.
