    Transport to the islands

    My private taxi

Simply - by boat where the Thai crew will welcome you ! The master "big" boat will bring you to the islands - then you will be leaded to smaller canoes - perfect to visit the islands itself - coming back - lunch will be served by the crew - fresh food - vegtabales and rice ! Great adventure !

Nothing best than renting a car

Phuket is not a very little island. And you couldn't appreciate the various aspects with public transports.
Do not forget that the law provides that you have international driving license, though renters do not require. Nothing happens if you don't have an accident, but if you do have insurance could refuse to pay.
I advice to rent at "big guys" at airport such as Budget - Avis - Hertz. Most small renters require to hold your passport as a guarantee, and I would not leave my passport in stranger's hands.

    Rent a car

Phuket is a small island and if you want to explore the island on your own, there are plenty of places to hire cars or motorbikes. It is really cheap! We hired a car for 2 days and paid about 28?!
In Thailand, people drive on the left. It's not too difficult to drive in Phuket, just pay attention to the motorbikes that aren't always an example of excellent driving skill!

Get a Jeep & Drive on Your Own

    The rented jeep.....navigator not included

A rented vehicle is a must if you intend to leave the luxurious confines of your secluded beach resort for lunch or dinner.
Rental is very affordable (700thb a day for Suziki Carribean jeep) and roads and well maintained and uncongested (totally unlike Bangkok). Delivery to resort possible for a small fee (200thb).
Best of all -- parking in most places including Patong Beach area is free! In addition, you don't get touts harassing you when trying to find parking or when parking you car -- amazing for a supposed tourist trap that Phuket is.
Phuket Island is small and can drive around the island in a day -- although roads are generally hilly and windy except for the stretch of highway leading to the airport and mainland.

    Car Rental

    Suzuki Caribian

It's cheap to rent a car. Will cost you as little as £8 a day.

But it's a good idea espcially if you want to get to some of the more out of the way places, and some of the less touristy spots.

    Suzuki Vitara

I rent this car for 900baht/day for driving in Phuket only during the low-season. But during high season Nov-Jan, maybe the price is about 1200bahts - 1600bahts.
