The Drugstore in Karon Village: English Books

Just a note to say if you don't want to drag a bunch of books to read from home....you can get some English novels in the local drugstore in the village at Karen beach. English Books A little more ( not too excessive!)

Tailors in Karn Beach

by easterntrekker

There are tailors everywhere in Karon beach. We realised when we went to Bangkok later ...the prices were pretty good in Karon Beach .The best thing to do is get fitted at the beginning of your stay as it is best to allow as much time as possible. We both had tops and pants made . We mailed it back and it was here before we were. You can barter!! The prices are great!! My husband had a tux made . Shirt , tie vest and all was $ 250.00!!

Street vendors: Prices are not set in stone!!!

by Sympatico

You can negotiate the price of everything when dealing with the local street shops. Nothing is set in stone so look around and get and ask questions. Things are very cheap in Thailand so most people don't bother and pay the first price given. Also, shops around the beaches are a lot more expensive than if you were to go further inland in the city of Phuket. There is supposed to be a big market but I didn't go to it. There are so many souvenirs to pick up, go crazy!
