Sungai Kolok Things to Do
Sungai Kolok has been dubbed the "Hatyai of the East Coast" for Malaysians staying in Kelantan.
Many Kelantanese crossed the border for business as well as dining, shopping and nightlife.
Unfortunately, recently due to security problems targetting tourists, the number of tourists arrivals has dropped.
Otherwise, great place to buy stuff,, eat Thai food and get traditional massage or sing at the local karaoke joints.
Many European backpackers have used Sungai Golok as transit by rail or road from Malaysia to Surat Thani and other parts of Southern Thailand and up north to Bangkok.
Sungai Kolok is like any typical Thai town.
As a border town, there are many stalls selling Thai products, fruits and handicraft to tourists. It is small enough downtown to walk around.
Most Malaysian tourists come for a day trip. There are of course hotels and motels for late revellers. Most of the local Thais are Muslim and can speak Thai as well as Malay.
