Beautiful Kata Beach

by tvdandy

Kata Beach has soft sands and crystal clear water to swim in. The waves are reasonable for swimming in January. The beach is crowded, but not outragious like Patong. There are many beach chairs for rent and many stands selling fruit and a variety of drinks, including the wonderful Chang Beer. Great for sunsets too. At night there are often barbeques on the beach with cushions and candles laid out to reggae musc. A very nice combination of a chill, but lively vibe.

Strolling around Kata Village

by tvdandy

Kata has a nice, compact village only several blocks from the beach. The heart of the action is in the central part of the beach. Here you will find all your basic tourist fare: nice restaurants, good selection of nightlife which includes the infamous Thailand girlie bars, as well as many travel agencies for daytrip excursions. There are also many places to shop for bargins. There is also a night time outdoor market on most nights. Great for fresh fish, fruit and bargin shopping.
