    Getting there

by lotharscheer Updated Apr 5, 2015

From Bangkok Don Miamg Airport Air Asia and Nok Air have cheap flights. To Pak Bara for boats to Ko Lipe and Ko Bulon are minibuses for 200 Baht ( but only in the morning, if you arrive in the afternoon you wan't cach the boat), maybe also to Ko Lanta.
There are also 2 overnight trains, the faster (aircon only) leaving at 17.05 arriving 8.05, the slower leaving 18.30 arriving 10.31 ( my train was 2 hours late, can be even more, you might not catch the boat).
There are tourist minibuses to Pak Bara, Satun, Ko Lanta, Krabi, Hat Yai, Surat Thani and all sorts of other places from near the train station.
South of the town, close to a Robinson shopping mall, is a big minibus terminal with frequent vans everywhere in Southern Thailand including Bangkok, these are cheaper then the tourist minibuses, to Hat Hai 100 Baht but can't get you to the town center (closest in Had Yai would be near the Kim Young market 3 blocks from the train station), usually very short waiting time, but they have also limited luggage space, if you have a lot you might have to buy a extra seat for it.
There are also buses, the station is a bit out of town with a city bus running to the train station for 13 Baht.

    Car rental in Thailand

by bulldogtwo Written Mar 18, 2009

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

I am sending you a couple of web sites that you can view to decide price and what type of vehicle you want to rent. They are decently priced, but I don't believe that the price includes insurance, which I would suggest you purchase. Just make sure that you document any scracthes or other damage that is on the vehicle when you pick it up.

The Terminal - for Coaches or Buses

by ZENDER Written Mar 15, 2005

You know you are at the right place for your busing or coaching needs when you see this sign broadly displayed by the road! So at the very least, you know who is the one that designed ..or should I say, which government department is responsible for building the bus terminal...way cool!

Yet Another Coach - Different Colours

by ZENDER Written Mar 15, 2005

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

It pays to do your research beforehand to know which part of Thailand you are going to or where you want to go. Then you can enquire about the fares and be given the right coach to the right place - your destination! Sometimes they leave on time, sometimes they do not..but MOST of them try anyway.

It is convenience to travel around to Trang's island by a little long tail boat served by local. A day trip only for 1,200 - 1,500 Baht.
