Trang Things to Do

  • Impression

My apologies. I just saw this querry left unanswered. After 18 months, may not be of any meaning to the originator but for others who dropped by.Yes, there are lots to do in Trang. Depending on what is interesting to you.First, Trang is known for its Waterfalls. There are plenty. Waterfalls meant jungle trekking in real tropical country. Not on...

  • 3 islands round trip - Koh Ma, Koh...

Buy a trip to the 3 surroundings islands: Koh Ma, Koh Cheuk, Koh Muk (+ Emerald Cave). You will experience great snorkeling and the swimming through the dark Emerald Cave is also great adrenalin experience. The advantage of this trip is that you can go only in a small group of 4 people and 2 longtail drivers. We had a lot of fun especially on the...

  • Kao Chang Hai Cave

Nice and properly litted cave, well kept but should not make it a point to visit this place if you are around in trang unless you are driving to trang on Highway 4 from Patthalung

  • Dim Sum for breakfast

I didn't see a name, on wifi it is copi1, if you come out of the train station (minibuses have there stop nearby) it's the first place to the right. Dim Sum, only in the morning, sort of steamed dumplings usually with pork, shrimp, etc inside, 20 Baht per plate in this place, it can easy add up to several hundred if you are hungry. They also have...

  • Good and cheap Thai food

It is difficult to find a table in the evening, come early, the food is excellent, cheap, very spicy but small portions.Tables also outside, but unfortunately name only in Thai writhing, english menue is available. I had a glass noodle salad with spicy seafood and red curry with chicken.

  • Every night fresh seafood

Our favorite breakfast was banana pancake with fresh fruit and fresh juice. In the evening you can have some fresh seafood – we had a barbecued barracuda and it was perfect. The Thai curry or noodles are also great!

  • Muslim Food

If you are looking for Halal or local Malay food, there are quire a few Muslim restaurants near Trang train station. We tried a few while there and were generally satisfied with all of them.To get there, go to the train station and once at the station, just look around and I don't think you would miss it.

  • Great German (and Thai) food in Trang!

After a visit to Ani's bookstore, the owner suggested we visit "The German Beer House" for dinner. The owner, Nong, was a professional cook in Germany for 14 years. She and her boyfriend Jan have now has opened a restaurant with European and Thai cuisine. I just finished my dinner and it was fantastic. The red cabbage was better than my...

  • Local Cake

There are many shops selling (baked) cakes along this street (sorry, cant remember name) where our phuket-hat yai blue bus stopped to take passengers. There are five flavours to choose from - pandan, coconut, orange, coco and vanilla (.... or is it durian?)The cakes are sold at 100B for 3. Ideal gift plus supper (for yourself) if you are travelling...

  • Enjoy a drink at beach bar

Have few beers or drinks at the Koh Ngai Villa beach bar. You can meet there new people and the cocktails are really perfect. There was s fireshow every night. If you feel like “fireshowing” the next evening can be yoursYou should also try the Thai beer - Chang or Singha - it's perfect!

  • Interesting food stores selling...

May be there are some other places we can see this little cute pancake. But it was my first time seeing it. Cute enough. I didn't buy it because my stomach was just too full after a heavy dinner at a seafood restaurant.

From Bangkok Don Miamg Airport Air Asia and Nok Air have cheap flights. To Pak Bara for boats to Ko Lipe and Ko Bulon are minibuses for 200 Baht ( but only in the morning, if you arrive in the afternoon you wan't cach the boat), maybe also to Ko Lanta. There are also 2 overnight trains, the faster (aircon only) leaving at 17.05 arriving 8.05, the...

  • Car rental in Thailand

I am sending you a couple of web sites that you can view to decide price and what type of vehicle you want to rent. They are decently priced, but I don't believe that the price includes insurance, which I would suggest you purchase. Just make sure that you document any scracthes or other damage that is on the vehicle when you pick it...

  • The Terminal - for Coaches or Buses

You know you are at the right place for your busing or coaching needs when you see this sign broadly displayed by the road! So at the very least, you know who is the one that designed ..or should I say, which government department is responsible for building the bus terminal...way cool!

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

When my brother and I booked our tickets in Ko Lanta, we were told it was a first class train with air conditioning. When in Trang our train arrived and it definitly was not first class for starters. The train had no air and it was not the most comfortable ride to Hua Hin.
We had not a bad beginning of the trip up until after dinner. After dinner and spending quite a lot of money on the overpriced beer(100bht each) we were basically forced to go to bed. The problem with this is that it was only 9:00pm and by brother and I were in no way ready to sleep at that point. We finally bent under pressure and slept for a few hours until we made it to Hua Hin. The problem here was that my brother and I paid for lower beds and ended up having to sleep up top.
The bottom line is that is if you prepurchase train tickets make sure your aware of what you are getting into. Except for the rude behaviour by one of the train staff, it wasn't all that bad, just not what we paid for (750bht each).
If you want to see more photos and comments of our crazy train ride, check out my albums on my homepage.

For NMirzaTrang is a lovely quiet clean town with awesome seafood, dimsum, trang cakes and cold coffee pronounced Ko Pee to die for.Breath taking waterfalls and the amazing Dragon Cave. You have a better choice to rent a car in Phuket or Krabi or Hatyai then Trang.Furthermore the train ride from Bangkok to Trang is long. With Airasia fares as low as...

  • Lo and Behold! See What Nature had...

In addition to the thing mentioned above, I would also like to say that it can be very interesting and exciting to feel droplets of water laced with carbonate dripping on you as you walk through some of the caves.

  • Watch Your Heads! Protect Your Camera!

I am at a loss for words what to describe this adventure - in a way it reminds me of my Blue Grotto trip when I was in the island of Capri in southern Italy - the only difference is that this Trang cavern adventure lasted much longer and went through more adventurous routes. One thing I like about this activity is that you can get the opportunity to...
