Buy a trip to the 3 surroundings islands: Koh Ma, Koh Cheuk, Koh Muk (+ Emerald Cave). You will experience great snorkeling and the swimming through the dark Emerald Cave is also great adrenalin experience. The advantage of this trip is that you can go only in a small group of 4 people and 2 longtail drivers. We had a lot of fun especially on the...

  • Every night fresh seafood

Our favorite breakfast was banana pancake with fresh fruit and fresh juice. In the evening you can have some fresh seafood – we had a barbecued barracuda and it was perfect. The Thai curry or noodles are also great!

  • Muslim Food

If you are looking for Halal or local Malay food, there are quire a few Muslim restaurants near Trang train station. • Great German (and Thai) food in Trang!

After a visit to Ani's bookstore, the owner suggested we visit "The German Beer House" for dinner. The owner, Nong, was a professional cook in Germany for 14 years. She and her boyfriend Jan have now has opened a restaurant with European and Thai cuisine. I just finished my dinner and it was fantastic. The red cabbage was better than my...

May be there are some other places we can see this little cute pancake. But it was my first time seeing it. Cute enough. I didn't buy it because my stomach was just too full after a heavy dinner at a seafood restaurant.

  • Car rental in Thailand

I am sending you a couple of web sites that you can view to decide price and what type of vehicle you want to rent. They are decently priced, but I don't believe that the price includes insurance, which I would suggest you purchase. Just make sure that you document any scracthes or other damage that is on the vehicle when you pick it...

Trang Warnings and Dangers

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

When my brother and I booked our tickets in Ko Lanta, we were told it was a first class train with air conditioning. When in Trang our train arrived and it definitly was not first class for starters. The train had no air and it was not the most comfortable ride to Hua Hin.
We had not a bad beginning of the trip up until after dinner. After dinner and spending quite a lot of money on the overpriced beer(100bht each) we were basically forced to go to bed. The problem with this is that it was only 9:00pm and by brother and I were in no way ready to sleep at that point. We finally bent under pressure and slept for a few hours until we made it to Hua Hin. The problem here was that my brother and I paid for lower beds and ended up having to sleep up top.
The bottom line is that is if you prepurchase train tickets make sure your aware of what you are getting into. Except for the rude behaviour by one of the train staff, it wasn't all that bad, just not what we paid for (750bht each).
If you want to see more photos and comments of our crazy train ride, check out my albums on my homepage.

I am at a loss for words what to describe this adventure - in a way it reminds me of my Blue Grotto trip when I was in the island of Capri in southern Italy - the only difference is that this Trang cavern adventure lasted much longer and went through more adventurous routes. One thing I like about this activity is that you can get the opportunity to...
