Cheap Airfares around Thailand

by arvindsachdev

One of the best things to do for travelling around Thailand is to use their budget airlines. The most routes being held by Thai Air Asia. You could go to www.airasia.com and book your travel routes maybe 2 to 3 months before you reach Thailand. A recently set up airlines called Nok Air is also relatively cheap. You could get airfares per way for around USD12.50. Best way is booking it online. Nok air page is at www.nokair.co.th. This is not an advert but just a travel tip.

Speed boat to Koh Pee Pee

by stefano99

If you are staying in Phuket and would like to see the beautiful island of Koh Pee Pee, made famous by the film 'The Beach'. Then I can recommend going by speedboat, the company I choose included lunch and snorkeling. Don't forget to barter on the price for the trip, as everyone on my trip found out they had paid a different price, the current advertised price is 2,800 Baht ($US70). Check out the website link for more details and lots of beautiful photos of the area.

Nighttrain from Bangkok to Koh Chang

by DidierPierco

The nighttrain takes you in about 14 hours from Bangkok to Koh Chang. This looks like a hell of a ride, but in fact the train is very confortable to sleep in and you got some splendid views aloong the way.Whenever you want to take the night train, book a ticket before in the railwaystation, and don't book the one with airco, ask second class but without the airco, the windows will be open which gives a fantastic feeling along the way.

overnight train bookings

by oceania26

A great way to travel around Thailand is by train. You'll save money, time and it's safe. I'd recommend to reserver overnight sleeper trains in advanced. You can do so by emailing the booking office in Hualamphong Railway Station with your itinterary. You pay when you pickup the tickets or you can make other arrangments if your departure city isn't Bangkok. The train is definitely slower than bus or plane but if you want to save money and time (travelling by night), it's best to go with a train. Most overnight trains leave around 5 or 6 in the afternoon and take about 12 - Bangkok/Chiang Mai or Bangkok/Butterworth. You also save on accomdations for the night and the train officials will wake you up well before you get off the train. I took the 2nd class sleeper and it was was comfortable and clean (you're given fresh linens and blankets). The squat toilets are obviously a little to be...

Flights

by Skibbe

Thailand is a country where you can go to the airport at get a cheap flight right then. Don't book your flight before you leave unless you just need that peace of mind. Also, I liked Bangkok Airways better than any airline I've flown. Their service is excellent, with everyone getting internet access and free snacks and beverages in their terminals.

Travel by rafts

by Fudge

We found it was an excellent way to get round the Kanchanaburi area... by bamboo raft.I totally recommend it :)It's cheap -- just get a reliable operator through whom u can get a good deal. We went through 'Oh' at Nana Tour & Travel Services.'Oh' and her husband Jon work together... and they were an excellent help to us.

Let the Train take the Strain

by M0B1US

Train travel in Thailand is a very economical and easy way to get around. We took a sleeper train over 600kms from Surat Thani into the centre of Bangkok (see the accommodation tip!) and for the equivalent of about £10 each including agents fees arrived refreshed and raring to going without having wasted any of our daytime for other activities...We travelled in 2nd class and the journey seemed safe with plenty of authorities in evidence both on the train and at the stations - though I have heard stories that these are the ones you have to watch out for!Although we slept quite comfortably for the majority of the journey, in the morning you were able to watch the countryside roll by and get an idea of rural life in Thailand as the train passed by. At many of the stops hawkers get on to sell delicious food and drinks for rock bottom prices and you are able to nibble away on this 'table...

Passenger service charge leaving Thailand by air

by phil_uk_net

Remember that when you fly out of Thailand there is a 500 baht passenger service charge levied. I have forgotten about this on a couple of occasions and have had to change money just for this which is a bit annoying. It's a good idea to put 500 baht in your passport during your trip so you don't forget. This charge certainly applies when flying out of the country from Bangkok. I am not sure if it applies at other airports from which international flights depart, such as Phuket.
