Discovery Airpass by Bangkok Airways

by jojes

Since there are a lot of people looking for info about cheap flying in Thailand and between Thailand and the neighbouring countries, I have this tip :when you want to fly between 3 to 6 destinations in Thailand or in/to the neighbouring countries, check out the "Discovery airpass" by Bangkok Airways. It allows you to travel at discount rates between the Bangkok Airways' destinations in Thailand, the Siem Reap airways' routes in Cambodia and the domestic routes in Laos by Lao Airlines. Berjaya Air takes you to Kuala Lumpur. They also offer a range of international destinations by these airlines. The DAP has to be booked in advance and can only be booked from outside Thailand !

Tuk Tuk

by solopes

My previous idea was to rent a car in Phuket, to visit the island; upon arrival, and watching the traffic, I decided not to risk, and use public transportation. Tuk Tuk was a wonderful solution: we were seven, but that was no problem, and it was quick, cheap, available everywhere, adapted to the weather, and all the drivers we met were nice guys. We used it everyday and everywhere.

day trip from Bangkok to Ayutthaya

by putri_jogja

Hi,Taking train out of Bangkok but for day trip, you can make your plan to Ayutthaya. Last year I did it.I m budget traveler. I stayed in hostel not in Khaosan road but in Silom. From here, I take MRT to Railway station. It will take more or less 2.5 hours journey. I was taking morning time train (around 8.30 am). I reached ayutthaya around 10.30 am. From here, actually i can choose tuk tuk or rent motorcycle or bicycle. That time i rent bicycle. It was tiring. But for me it is fun. After 4 PM i returned the bike, and went back to Bangkok by train again.Actually, you can take train from here too to Chiang Mai. I dont have any experience as I have never been to Chiang Mai. I really wanna visit there next time. Hope my information is helpfull.Happy traveling

Train from Bangkok to Ayutthaya

by putri_jogja

(Please correct me if i m wrong) There are two types of train to Ayutthaya. With airconditioner and without airconditioner.I took the train without airconditioner. It is comfortable because the trip is not taking too long. You also can enjoy the scenery. Some tourists take this type of train too. If you are intested to take train, please be at Hua Lampong station before 8 am. here is the link for the train schedule http://www.thailandbytrain.com/NorthernLine.htmlIf you stay around Sukhumvit, you can take MRT from Sukhumvit station to Hua Lampong station. Just follow the direction to the Railway station. Don't worry, it is really easy.

Bangkok to Ayutthaya

by putri_jogja

For Ayuthaya trip, I made it in 1 day. Catch train morning time, around 8 am. Reach there around 10 am. When u arrive at Ayuthaya train station you have some choices for transport. Hire bicycle (tiring ofcourse), motorcycle, tuktuk or car.Don't forget to take free map at the station. It gives you usefull information about what and where to see in Ayuthaya.

bus BKK-SGP

by yakyak

You will be fine at the airport or in bangkok for that matter, just use common sense and stay away from the protest areas(thats if they are still there in august) but if you are really worried you can always take a domestic flight up to chang mai/ udon thani or other up country destinations so you dont even have to venture in to bangkok, but in my opinion it would be a shame not to experience this bustling vibrant city. There are buses available you can take from bangkok(various pick up points) all the way down to singapore if you wish, tickets and bookings are easily available on many traveller/backpacker web-sites,i have travelled this route on one of these buses about 8 years ago and all was good but very long and sat on a bus very boring, you may think of trying the train.

Water Bus

by juzie

The water bus is a very cheap way to travel across the Chao Phraya River. It has many stops along the river at which have their own tourist's spots. For example, Wat Arun is located very close to a water bus jetty.

Coming and going from Khaosan RD, Bangkok

by earthflyer

There are many travel agents in Khaosan road area and you can arrange transport for anywhere in the country. If travelling East to: Pattaya, Koh Samet, Rayong, Koh Chang & Trat.minibuses will go around to the guesthouses in the morning and pick you up but don't be surprised if you change minibuses somewhere along the way. What they will do is try and get everyone to Pattaya in one minibus and everybody else going to Samet or Chang in the other simply because there is two routes out of Bangkok. If travelling South to: Koh Samui etc...or Phuket etc... Minibuses will come around and pick you up from your guesthouses late in the afternoon and take you to wherever the coach is parked. The reason the coaches don't come to Khaoson Rd because the traffic is bad and it is easier for them to pick you up and take you to the coach. The coach trip will take about 10-12 hours through the night and you...

Travel from Chiang Mai to Korat(Nakhon Ratchasima)

by earthflyer

It is possible to travel by bus from Chiang Mai to Korat by bus but you might want to ask around at the bus station in Chiang Mai to make sure.I have an old book that says there are ordinary buses to Chiang Mai take about 8 hours. If they still go today I would ask around to find about a VIP bus to korat and go in comfort. Your next best option is either take a train of bus to Ayuthaya and get the bus from there to Korat or travel all the way to Bangkok and take another bus from there to Korat.Or take the easy route. Fly to Korat via Bangkok saving you at lot of wasted time on buses and be there after a few hours. The bus or train trip will take aleast 13hours starting.
