There are several options to get to Bukhara.

1. Coming from Tashkent. You can take a flight to Bukhara. Air fare costs 45 USD per person.

2. Coming from Samarkand. You can hire a shared taxi for around 30-40 USD or take one of the vans.

3. Coming from Khiva. You will need to hire seperate car for this trip. It will take 6-7 hours to get to Bukhara through the desert. I would recommend to hire a reliable new car.

4. Coming from Turkmenistan. You can have a taxi to bring you to the border and from there you can hire another taxi for about 10 bucks to get to the city. Distance is 110 kms.

By bus or by train. We travelled from samarkand to Buchara by Bus. And then we took the night train from Buchara (Buxoro) to Tashkent, the Uzbek capital.
On foot, as all the highlights are located in the old town.
