I am the lizard king... I can do anything. This surely appies to the red lizards on the islands... I have noted two sorts of lizards, the red ones and the green-greyish ones... the red ones seem to dominate, chasing all the others away and ignoring the dogs chasing them... obviously oblivious of the people sunbathing and walking right beside them. The photo doesn't do them justice: they are really massive, with a very long tail... Swim, snorkel, sunbathe... this is all you have to do on Whale Island, and it is beautiful to spend a couple of days doing nothing... just recharging the batteries, enjoying the views, walking and relaxing by the beach.
No honking motorbike, no unfamiliar or familiar noises, nothing... The island has only a beach, quite a large one, in fact, and it is never crowded.. often we were the only people there. Most people travel to Whale Island to scuba-dive, so during the day you have this little corner of heaven to yourself.
