Sapa market is a great place to take a stroll. It is quite busy but not like some of the markets in Hanoi or HCM. There are many different people in traditional dress doing buying of local produce they also sell a lot of silver. The silver bangles make great inexpensive souvenirs to take home.
A lot of people hang around outsid ethe bigger hotels hoping to sell their wares at more inflated prices than you will find on the street.
Beware of sweet old ladies offering to sell along with their silver wares white power in little plastic bags!!!! Drug taking is a hanging offense not worth taking the risk no matter how cheap they are selling it.
