Local Karaoke Spots: Karaoke Time!

by minhphat01

Get some friends...and if you don't have a friend.....tap the shoulder of anyone you see on the street and say you want to invite some friends over....Kaboom!!! you'll have them all by nightfall. :o)Then hawl them all to a local Karaoke spot.....the rent rate is pretty cheap depending on location. Most expensive is about 50,000dong (~3.5USD) per hour per Medium room. "Medium" = Means the room can hold a maximum of 12persons???...Vietnamese can cram more if you need to do so. They are pretty good at it. :O)Most cheap places you can negotiate down to half as much.... Anyway you want.....I had even saw Buddist Monks came out of those places!....not bad eh? Them party animals.Put your life behind and start singing/yelling your head off....should be fun as all of the people will do it anyway if you are shy. :0)

Seventeen Saloon: Pub Nights

by uncle_bose

Stay away from the pubs listed in most guides. They're full of pestering ladyboys. This place is really cool, a bit expensive but they have excellent live music on 2 floors in Saigon and 1 floor in Hanoi. Foods pretty good too, service is excellent and no one bothers you. Leave a good tip the 1st night and you get the best spot in front of the band the following nights. I didnt visit the one in Danang.

Hanoi: lights out

by eliteone

your evening will be interupted around 12 am by the switching off of bar lights, street lights and the street hawkers serving you 50 cent beers by the approaching of the local police, dont worry the local spies give you time to hide. i found hanoi strange place for drinking, but depends what u are looking for.the nightclubs you hear about did not exsist for me,maybe my moto driver was just out for the drive too. still a cheap place to drink and eat, and mix with locals.

Saigon Saigon Bar: in Ho Chi Minh

by call_me_rhia

The Saigon Saigon Bar is located inside the posh Caravelle Hotel, on an open-air terrace on the 9th floor... Take the elevator on the right side of the hall as you enter the hotel, the elevator on the left side leads to the hotel rooms, and is of no use for the bar.The bar is exceptional... not only for the panoramic night views, but for the breeze... even when it's roasting hot at ground levels, up there it's wonderfully cool... it tends to be on the expesinve side, so you'll only find rich HCM residents and crowd (about 50/50 I would say), but it's very pleasant.Plenty of drinks and cocktails, and there's a live band, too - nothing too impressive... One really comes here for the views, not for the music. Casual is fine... smart casual is better...

around town: night walking: everywhere, except HCM

by call_me_rhia

Vietnamese people are not much the kind of people who enjoy nightlife, especially in smaller towns: they go to bed early and rise early, often before dawn. In the eveningI found that the most pleasurable activity was to simply walk around, especially wherever I could find some street vendors and local families.Nightlife does exist, though... the country is quite touristy and you can find happy hour bars and nightspots quite easily... in this case you'll be spending your evenings/nights with other foreigners... often people from your own country. Just like you would have done at home... So why bother? Casual

Opera House Ho Chi Minh: Concert

by christinenigam

We asked the Caravelle Hotel Conceirge to get us two tickets to see a concert. We just wanted to see the and feel the cultural life in Saigon. People were very casual here when going to concert unlike other cities when people dress up to go to the Opera House. The concert was interesting to mark this violinist, a Vietnamese Professor 65 birthday. There was also a vietnamese dance which was most enjoyable and the orchestra was interesting. For 150,000 dong, the concert was worth every cent and the Opera House is very pretty. No People wear tee shirts, some like us were dressed nicely.

Where to go?: Hue Nightlife

by MickeH

We were only in Hue for a short while and so I only have to tips for you here.Stop & Go CafeA small place, perfect for a few beers and something to eat. The owner, Mr Do, is more than happy to have a chat and he also takes tourists out on tours of the city and it's surroundings. A very friendly place that I really liked. The picture is us enjoying some beers here.DMZ Bar & CafeA small place that is popular with backpackers. Got a couple of pooltables and the whole place is filled with writing. Walls, the bardisk, the roof(!!), everything is filled with messages from travellers. And as luck would have it, I sat down at the bar exactly where someone had written 'Heja GAIS'!GAIS beeing my football team from Gothenburg!

Where to go?: Nha Trang Nightlife

by MickeH

Nha Trang has a wide selection of nightlife hotspots to choose from. Here is a suggestion of a few to try:Crazy Kim BarThis bar is always great fun. Happy hour 2 for 1 on drinks and beer, and there are some good drinks here. DJ that takes requests, pooltables, tables to relax, an outdoors area and a friendly and helpful staff. And lets not forget a wide variety of funny hats to borrow of you feel a bit silly, or maby not silly enough! Money earned at the bar go towards keeping kids off the streets and away from prostitution, so no need to feel bad if you spent way to much drinking last night. The money is put to good use!Nha Trang Sailing ClubThis seems to be the place to be most of the time. So I wonder why we never went there... Might have been the name, sounds a bit posh. Supposed to be great though, so give it a go.CasablancaA small bar with really good drinks. Order a 'Play it again,...

Nguyen Chi Thanh Street: Dalat Nightlife

by MickeH

Along this central street there are many great caf?s worth a wisit. Rather than writing about any specific place I would like to reccommend the whole street. It starts at Hoa Binh square and runs towards the lake, and it's somewhat elevated situation gives you a great view over the lake and the streets below. There are also internet caf?s to be found here, with some of the fastest connections we came across in Vietnam.
