Dream Bar: Nightlife

by rob12c

Dream Bar is probably the only bar in the town that stays open til all hours of the morning. It is about 1km up from the main street and stays open until the last person walks out of the door. The bar is basically full of backpackers with a couple locals. There are plenty of motor taxis outside but be careful they dont try to scam you as they think your to drunk to know whats going on. anything goes

All over Ho Chi Minh City: Cruising on a motorcycle

by Huetam

Just get on a bike and go - best to find a Vietnamese friend who can negotiate the often crazy traffic. You can cruise, check out the beautiful guys and gals of Saigon, and in the frequent traffic jams you can meet the locals. Sunday nights are a hoot. Keep it groovy - Saigonese are increasingly fashion conscious

Hanoi Water Puppets Theatre

by SirRichard

This traditional form of puppeting is exclusive of Vietnam, specially of the north, so Hanoi is the perfect place to see it. There are shows only at this Municipal Theatre, by the Lake. There are 2 shows in the evening, at 6:30 and 8:30. The show takes 1 hour and includes about 10 minutes of traditional vietnamese music too

too tired

by xaver

To tell the truth I never stayed more than one night in a town, so, leaving soon early on mornings I did not have a so busy night life. There are discos and pubs in the main towns, but as far as I could know this is not a night life oriented country, most places close before midnight, there are a few disocs that close later but they are mostly for tourists and, anyway they rarely close after 2 am, it is not Thailand yet....fortunatly!The best memories about my night life are definitly the peaceful sunsets I enjoyed on the rivers.

Traditional performings

by SirRichard

I don't use to go to Traditional music & dance shows, as I personally find them quite boring and kind of "tourist trap" somehow...But in Hoi An, to see the city's main highlights you buy a book of 6 tickets that let you in to several monuments, museums, shrines... and 1 traditional dance show. So, as I had already paid for it and I have some spare time, I decided to go. It was not a memorable experience, but it was not so boring after all, quite colourful and so...

Seaside hang-outs: Kick-back in Vung Tau

by minhphat01

When you get to Vung Tau....try to spare one night and take it easy for once.Don't overrun yourself with pounding schedules of tours and visits....not worth it.Just take a day off from the busy life. And in the evening when the sun was setting down...the heat has given up and a nice warm evening is all yours to enjoy. I usually just take a light and easy stroll with my family along the seasides of Vung Tau. The most popular spot is along Front Beach. Right on the edge of the sea, they have a thick wall that you could walk along to view the sea and or enjoy the activities all around you....or you could sit along the wall and chat among your companions....there are the usual street vendors that sell peanuts and other snacks that you can get something to chew on. All in an easy day in Viet Nam. Jeans...T-shirts....as easy as you feel.

bar on Thi Sach street in Saigon: Apocalypse Now

by saigon_mal

I was first there in 1993 a few weeks after the original location opened. There have been 3 locations in Saigon so far. When the owners were moving out of the 2nd location they had a "bust the place up" party which was fun. I used a wrecking crowbar on the piano and took turns with Australian, Irish, and other Ex-Pat types smashing chairs and everything else we could rip off the walls. We threw piles of broken stuff into the street and there were probably 200 people laughing their butts off at the spectacle. The current Thi Sach street location is big and here to stay. Live music on most Saturday nights, D.J. frequently. I have been to 2 of 3 incarnations of it's sister Apocalypse Now in Hanoi. I kind of lived in the original Hanoi location for 2 weeks in 1995. Say hello to Binh if anyone runs into him. Always smaller then its original Saigon club but still an Ex-Pat partying place....

Saigon or Hanoi: Cyclo Races

by saigon_mal

Following celebrations involving mass quantities of beer or whiskey, have fun doing cyclo racing. You need at least 2 clients and 2 cyclos, but you can use many more for a Roman Colluseum Gladiator effect. Start off asking your cyclo driver to line up with the other driver and then shout "di di mau len". Most cyclo drivers have a great time racing for short distances.

Apocolypse Now: A fun Bar for EVERYONE

by Gianni3333

This is a great bar that is known to stay open after hours. Its always packed with Locals, Expats that now live in Ho Chi Mihn City, and Tourists. Its just fun. They offer food all night, and play a little of everything that you've heard over the last 10 years, with a dance edge baseline. Overall a Fun place to go to meet backpackers, tourists, locals, or whatever. There isnt a dress code here. Its so hot that most wear shorts, t-shirts or tank tops, and even flip flops.

Street Stalls (Hai Phong): Dark, wet & stuffy. Fantastic!

by chefgrad

Hai Phong is a very lively, but laid-back city. If you ever visit "little Hanoi" (Hai Phong), try going out late at night, especially if it's raining. The few people that remain in the streets all huddle up under a canopy provided by the street food stalls. Join them for dinner. Not only is this a great way to meet the locals, but also very few foreigners visit the inner of the city, so you get an intimate moment with a group of amazing people. This was one of my favorite moments in Vietnam.
