When going from place to place in Vietnam it is very important that you carry your belongings in some sort of waterproof, flexible and easy to carry bag. Pack light! In the nicer hotels laundry service is available and is only moderately expensive. If traveling in the dry season be prepared for extremely hot weather. Bring clothes that you will be comfortable in in a very hot and humid climate. T-shirts are for sale on the streets for less than a dollar. If traveling north bring a warm sweatshirt or light coat because it gets quite cold. One pair of long paints should be brought no matter what part of Vietnam you travel in. A light raincoat would be wise but they can be cheaply obtained there. Hats are ESSENTIAL. The sun is very harsh in the South and protection is a must. A wide brimmed hat also provides nice protection from the rain. If you have a pair of sandals that are comfortable...

Light unless you go the highlands. Raincoat, if you have one handy if not you can always get one there. Toilet papers as the toilet papers there suck! If you are going to visit the Mekong Delta, bring some goodies like pecils, pens, coloring stuff like crayon and coloring books, stickers for the children. There are many children working on the street that asking for money or selling gums or whatever, don't give them money as they don't get the money, but their 'owners' do. So it will be nice of you to buy them food, or give them some goodies.

Leave extra bags and luggage in Ho Chi Minh City and travel light.Hotels usually have storage areas. Shorts, light clothing, good walking shoes or hiking boots. Weather is very hot and humid and you will be doing a lot of walking. No malaria in the upper Mekong Delta. Farther south in the deepest parts of the Mekong Delts there are still malaria warnings.......Always carry bottled water with you and drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration or heat exhaustion. Make reservations with one of the hotels befor you leave because the tour returns to Ho Chi Minh City late in the evening around 7pm.I highly recommend HOANG LINH HOTEL.It's a very friendly, small mom/pop operation located right next next to Sinh Cafe where the tour begins and ends. The rooms are large, modern, spotless with a/c.(Price range $12-15). Comparable rooms in the area cost about $20-25.I made reservations, told them...

Just bring your standard moutaineering style backpack...4000 cubic inches is enough to pack everyting you need. It really depends on the amount of time you spend bumming around but if you think you need you probablly dont....so don't bring to much weight. 2 dark colored pair of pants (preferablly the kind that covert into shorts), swim trunks, 3 short sleeved shirts (button up's or t's are both fine). 3 socks, and 3 underwear. Bring one light weight rain poncho, a pair of durable hiking boots and some throw away shoes or sandles. They have everyting you can imagine there so buy it there...it's cheaper. If you must bring something in your pack then one bar of soap, a little container of shampoo, a comb, toothbrush & paste, and that should be it. 35mm camera. If you want good pictures then bring a good camera. Try one of those light weight Canon Eos Rebels with a 28-210 mm lens. maybe...

I always use a normal hard suitcase and an average size hand luggage. There are two climate type in Vietnam. There are distinct seasons in north Vietnam (in February winter - temp. 20 - 24 degrees Celsius). In the south, there are always tropical conditions. So pack long and short sleeves shirts and shorts and normal trousers. Ordinary toiletries are enough because you can buy everything (at least in cities). I have no experiences concerning digital cameras, but new normal films and developing is VERY CHEAP (four roll of 24 pictures films 11 €). Currency matters: Vietnam has a currency named dong, which is quite weak (1 US$ = 15 000 dong). Strangely there is two currency system in Vietnam, normal people use Vietnamese dong and eg. everything is stated as US dollars at hotels. So take some amount currency like one dollar bills and change dongs only small amount at a time. You may need...

Just bring as little as possible... Especially if you wanna go to less common places, and therefor havta rent a motorbike, this'll be very important. Every hotel has some laundry service... No need to bring rain clothes, you ca buy 'em for .20 to .25 US$ .... Clothing.. depends on when you're going ... I was there when it was getting colder (in Hanoi), but didn't really need a sweater... Saigon's always pretty hot... Swimming clothes are really useful...Don't wear shoes that are hard to take on & off, cos you WILL be visiting temples & pagodas...

I think you don't have to bring to much. Everything you need, you can buy in Vietnam (and probably much cheaper than what you have to pay at home). We brought backpacks with us. This was very easy, because they are more flexible than suitcases. Especially in busses and trains. Clothes: I think you don't have to bring to much. Everything you need, you can buy in Vietnam (and probably much cheaper than what you have to pay at home). Also it's very cheap to bring your clothes to the laundryShoe's: If you plan to go to the mountains bring walking shoes with you, and for the rest of the country sandals are fine. We took stuff with us like; asprine, jodium, good antimusquito repellent (at least 40% DEET), ORS, Immodium, etc. What we didn't bring was anything against a cold. And that was a little mistake, because with al the airco's i had a cold on the second day in Vietnam. And eventhough...
