I didn't go to many restaurants, but you can try TRUNG LUONG restaurant at MY THO town, near the Mekong river. It's located at the river bank! Fried local fish (I forgot the name of the fish) eaten wrap with rice 'paper' & the Great Ball of rice ( made from glutinous rice) to be eaten with fried chicken

Chicken Nood Less: was obviously made from naked chooks.Fied Vec E Table : is a large square meal but a bit 'woody' but you get 4 legs.ET :an alian flavour to westeners. Ever wonder what happened to him-they breed them here for eating. Beec Noodles;Chicken Nood Less;Fried Vec E Table;E.

The food everywhere in Vietnam...

by Merrell

The food everywhere in Vietnam was great! You have to love noodles and rice however!! Cafe sua da (iced coffee with sweetened condensed milk) was a favourite of mine and I had no trouble (stomach) with the ice. One of my favourite places to eat was in the markets. In Saigon they have many booths and you can get the best fresh rice paper rolls I have ever tasted!

quain 177: quain 177

typical vietnamese eating shop with low chairs and tables.. there are seats facing the main road for you to see the crazy saigon traffic zoom by.. very local but they have a menu in english.. ;) hot pot eel.. it's cooked with lots of delicious soup and vege.. the eel smaked right at the top.. yummy!

lynh cafe: lynh cafe

by eelaine

this was recommended by our guide when we were enquiring about spring rolls.. the place is 100% meant for travellers with proper chair and tables.. and the food is adapted as well.. and so are the prices! good place for something familiar but still vietnamese.. nothing spectacularly good, but they are all generally okie.. the spring rolls are not bad..

cappuccino ristorante pizzeria

by eelaine

cappuccino ristorante pizzeriaafter 10 days, it's a good place to go to when you wanna have something that's not noodle with lots of vege or bread.. whatever the reason, this is a nice little place to go to for some delicious pasta.. the prices here are okie but quite expensive compared to an average meal in vietnam.. pasta!! we tried this really good spinach & cheese ravioli.. and the seafood spaghetti is good too!

ly cafeteria 22: ly cafeteria 22

by eelaine

this place was recommended by lonely planet and everyone who has been here before.. the food here is absolutely delicious.. try all the hoi an specialty that they have to offer.. the deco in this place is very oriental but this seems to be the trend in hoi an.. hoi an specialities especially the wanton.. it is this thin piece of fried wontan with a lot of stuff at the top!!

stalls at dong ba market: stalls at dong ba market

by eelaine

basically most of the stalls in the market charges foreigners more but it's still cheap.. bargain if you want to.. they'll probby throw in a couple of other things for you to try.. it's fun trying all the variety they have to offer.. just try a bit of everything.. there's this firendly nice old lady across the road from the bridge near dong ba market selling this little piced of glutinous thingy wrapped in leaves.. it's the best thing i've eaten in vietnam.. it's has little dried prawns in it and it just melts in your mouth..

Tip Photo
pho cafe: pho cafe

by eelaine

the food is simple and good.. and the owner, mr pho, is a friendly guy who speaks good english.. he can even help you with your ticket purchase at the train station.. the omelette here is good.. they put lots of onion, tomato and mushroom in it.. i know it's pretty common but after a long train ride, the omelette is simply mouth watering with a warm loaf..

La Carambole: La Carambole

by astraldragon

Run by a French ex-pat (Christian) and his Vietname wife (Ha), they've established a beautiful decor, with lighting, paintings, music (predominantly Jazz), and a bar, and managed to keep the prices low and fair (often cheaper than the places targeting tourists). They receive a mixed clientelle of Vietname and toursists, and along with the staff, provide a wonderful, traditional, culinary experience. Tiger Prawn in Garlic on Rice. Chiken & ginger. Pho(Sorry memories a bit vague at the mo.)
