Binh Quoi tourist resort: It's best on weekend

by LMOPrincess

Cha Ca La Vong - Old Quarter HANOI: Family run for five generations

by cheerssweetie

There is only one dish on the menu and its Cha Ca.This resturant is a Hanoi institution. It has been in the same spot for countless years and run by five generations of the same family.I came across this in a book by Stephen Downes "TO DIE FOR - 100 gastronomical experiences to have before you die"The restaurant itself looks like it hasn't been upgraded and probably hasn't for the whole time this family has been there. There was nobody to greet me downstairs so I made my way up the narrow staircase to the next level to find I was the sole patron.I sat down, a little hesitatant as I was the only diner. Out came all these side dishes, rice noodles, vegetables, peanuts, sauces etc. Then came a brazier with hot coals/rocks in it, on top of that a pan which looked like it had been in use for 100 years containing the main ingredient, large cubes of fish (not sure what fish) coated in a dusting...

Cafe Nhan Restaurant: Great food and atmosphere

by lenardt

One of the great things about deciding to go a different way is that you find such wonderful places. This cafe/restaurant is located in an alley near the lake and the food is SUPERB. We dined there several times and ate something different every time (except the spring rolls which we had every time because they tasted so good) and everything was wonderful. Full of flavour and well presented. Lots of locals eat there and that is usually a sign the food is pretty good. An added advantage of this place is that while you dine you can watch the passing parade of locals and you get a wonderful feeling of being part of this fantastic city. The staff are wonderful, helpful people who can speak enough english to make the whole experience a pleasant one.Two couse meal with drinks cost on average $6-$7US for two persons My wife had the vegitarian spring rolls every time we ate there and always...

lemongrass: vietnamese food on western setting / comida local

by izar

It is a nice clean restaurant on the most elegant tourist area of HCMC. It is not difficult to find. The most important fact is that you should/must make a reservation, it gets full around 21:00. NO space. The hosts are not too friendly, anyhow the waitresses and waiters are nice enough. You must try the rolls, not to miss. When you are done, cross the street, even if it pours and go to the bakery, called a deli, across the street. Fried shrimp.

k cafe: the sushi place you must not miss

by izar

we had a nice dinner at this restaurant that francis nicely suggested. I loved it. Our 5 year old had a steak that he loved too. My husband thought it was a bit pricy. Near the new park hyatt and the kFC fast food restaurant. The locals do not know the place.el mejor restaurante japones de sushi en saigon. el chef es extraordinario, cocinando y haciendo amigos. sus platos son verdaderas virtudes. el dueno ronda alrededor de las mesas y su mujer, a la que conocio en los angeles tambien estan en el restaurante asiduamente. el pescado es fresco. Tuna with rice. Our sons favourite the steak.Nuestro hijo pidio filete dijo que era el mejor filete que habia comido jamas.a mi me toco un pescado, macarrel, buenisimo asado. mi marido el ya tradicional sushi.

Dinh Lang Restaurant: Government Run but Great Food

by meccostaud

This is a tourist restaurant that is government run, but had great food and service. The presentation of the food was first rate. It's right on the lake in the Hoan Kiem district, so there's a lovely view of the lake. It was quiet at lunch time and it was a very relaxing meal. It was to be the most expensive meal in our 2 weeks in Vietnam, at about $43.00US for both of us. The banana flower salad served in a hollowed-out banana flower was delicious, as were the springrolls served in a pineapple lantern.

Juice: It's called Juice? What do you sell? Juice?

by steven1117

Just a small walk-in with a few bar stools (if memory serves me correctly). Clean and fresh looking, like a healthy alternative should look. They make juices and smoothies. I don't recall much about the decor because they were closing, and were in fact closed, putting things away. We had just finished a 2 hour massage, and didn't realize the time, and that things were closing up. We were thirsty, and just wanted a refreshment. The manager, name pronounced "Fah" was kind enough to stay open, and they made sure we were taken care of, and for that, a VT tip! The business card says: Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner, so I guess it's not only juice. We had a couple of healthy fresh-tasting smoothies, mine was a plethora of berries, and hers was something like banana pineapple. Anyway, typical of joints like that....lots of yoghurty stuff, or the alternatives, soy or whey protein. Yummy.

Soup bowls in Hanoi

by StephanB

Anywhere in Hanoi, or for that matter Vietnam, you can find incredible soups that are out of this world. They usually can be found at the outdoor food stalls around town and at the markets. Fresh, yummy, and cheap. My recipe for success.

Brother Cafe: Cool Hangout & Dining Place

by muddybok

This is one of the fine dine place in Hoi An. Brother Café may not be the cheapest place to dine, but the scenery, landscaping & services are superb.I see many tourists spending more than 1 week at Hoi An stop, and i can imagine why. The river behind the cafe is so beautiful from dusk to night and occasionally you will see some boats passing lazily and having a long chill beer to me at this time is just great.
