Golden Wind restaurant staff also organize BBQ on the beach if you are a group. BBQ is organized on the beach and after that, you will take part in the games, dance around a camp fire.
There is a karaoke set to serve those who want to sing or you can play billiard in the bar too.

Phuong Phuong restaurants: Good fresh reasonably priced food
I live in Ha Noi and have been to Cat Ba five times and each trip I have eaten at the Phuong Phuong restaurant two or three times. It's a terrace restaurant next to the Green Mango. The food is always excellent and very reasonably priced. Seafood is the speciality of Cat Ba and also of Phuong Phuong. They have live fish and seafood - so when you order it is taken out of their fish tanks and cooked immediately. So the griiled prawns in garlic, steamed clams with lemon grass, oysters, and the whole fish cooked in soya sauce wrapped and steamed with an assortment of vegatables and eaten with boiled rice and spinach cooked with garlic are delicious. Phuong Phuong restaurant: Home style food and friendly service in paradise
We walked by Phuong Phuong Restaurant on our first night in Cat Ba village and decided to give it a chance and use the free WiFi.
Our meal that night was so good that we decided to come back for breakfast the next day.
After an amazing breakfast we knew that we had found our spot and we kept coming back every day.
The service was always friendly and each meal was fresh and delicious.
The owners were an older couple who would come out and ask us how our food was and smile at how many dishes were on our table.
In Vietnam, It's best to share everything so you can try lots of different dishes.
The owner's lovely daughter was the lead waitress and she and her two cute friends are the staff.
We stayed in Cat Ba a full week and ate every meal at Phuong Phuong except one dinner and after that dinner we wished that we had eaten at Phuong Phuong.
The food was the perfect fuel that we needed for long days of rock climbing.
Our favorite dinner dishes were:
Steamed spinach with garlic
Vegetarian spring rolls
Tofu with tomato sauce
Vegetarian fried rice with egg
Mixed vegetable fried rice with shrimp
Fried noodles with squid
Steamed tuna with garlic

For breakfast we tried:
Seasonal fruit with yogurt and toast (freshly prepared fruit!)
Pineapple / yogurt shake
Mango / yogurt shake
Tomato and egg omelette
The pancakes are prepared with fruit and eggs, without syrup. Not fluffy but flat. They were great!
On our last night we ordered the Horseshoe Crab. This was a perfect way to end our trip. The crab was prepared both as a soup and served with local herbs and spices on a plate and it was delicious.
Phuong Phuong is not only one of my favorite restaurants in Vietnam, but one of my favorite restaurants in the world!
Bamboo Cafe: Sweet & Sour Heaven
The bamboo cafe is situated on cat ba town's main street (The one facing the sea). Stopped here for lunch and the food was spot on. The bottle of tiger that wash it down wasn't bad either.

My Ngoc: Friendly people, excellent food
Very nice people and the basic Vietnamese dishes, and the requisite banana pancake, were very good. But the seafood was excellent. They had a tank of crabs and another of langoustines and we had a few of each, and they were delicious. On the day we left we ordered a whole fish, and our waitress went into the back, got a bucket, got on her motorcycle, and came back in 15 minutes with a live grouper! It was a good 1.5-2 kg fish. They killed and cleaned it in the back. I'm not sure how they cooked it--possibly fried, but in what?--but the skin was crisp and tasty and the meat was firm and tender, not at all flaky or overcooked, and it was cooked right through to the spine. Do eat the cheek meat, btw. It was served in a tomato sauce with onions and peppers that was very light, complemented the fish well (even though it looked a bit ketchupy). Leviathan, a big plate of veg with oyster sauce, tea and mineral water for 2 came to 440,000 dong.

The Good Bar / The Slow Pony Adventures: The Good Bar (ISNT)
We were attracted to this place due to the friendly hostess on the street side, the coastal location, outdoor seats and promises of discounted food and 2 4 1 drinks.
Once they had our group seated they turned off the charm, turned up the prices and as for the food, the whole group agreed that it would be impossible to get drunk on their cocktails which were 99% tap water and the food was really disapointing. Two of the girls rated it as the worst meal they had eaten in Vietnam.
Avoid this place like you would tsunamis.

We really enjoyed this place, situated in the promenade of Cat ba, has a real good food and atmosphere, and the staff is great.
