If you go down to a restored and extended Vietkongs' tunnel, I think the shortest tunnel is enough. There is very hot, humid and also tight.

Boopie-trap with bamboo sticks. If you walk in this trap, you wont die, at least not immediately. Usually these sticks are covered with excrete and urea, so the victim will get blood-poisoning. Very nasty trap... Leave a Comment

Just 65km (40 miles) northwest of Saigon, the Cu Chi area lies at the end of the Ho Chi Minh trail and was the base from which Ho Chi Minh guerillas used to attack Saigon. As a result the whole area became a "free fire zone" and was carpet-bombed in one of many American "scorched-earth" policies since It is part of the "Iron Triangle". But the residents of Cu Chi took their war underground, literally, developing a network of tunnels that, at its height, stretched as far as Cambodia and included meeting rooms, kitchens, and triage areas -- an effective network for waging guerilla warfare on nearby U.S. troops. The U.S. Army's 25th Infantry Division was just next door, and there are detailed maps denoting land that was either U.S.-held, Vietcong-held, or in dispute. Visitors first watch a war-era propaganda film that's so over-the-top it's fun. The sight supports a small museum of photos and artifacts, as well as an extensive outdoor exhibit of guerilla snares and reconstructions of the original tunnels and bunkers. Wear your "play clothes" if you choose to get down in the temples; the experience is dirty and claustrophobic. There is also a shooting range where, for $1 per bullet, you can try your hand at firing anything from a shotgun to an AK-47. At the end of the tour, visit the dining hall and try the steamed tapioca that was a Cu Chi staple. Souvenir hawkers abound. To penetrate this underground world, the American military had to take on the methods of the guerrilla soldier. Non gratum anus rodentum Tunnel Rats' motto Frustrated by an inability to overcome a determined but poorly equipped peasant army the most technologically advanced fighting force in the world was forced to adopt the most basic form of hand-to-hand combat. Out of this came the so-called Tunnel Rats - an elite band of volunteer soldiers, selected both for their bravery and, above all, their small stature. Their motto was "non gratum anus rodentum" - bad Latin for "not worth a rat's ass". Tunnel Rats were armed with only the most basic equipment Usually stripped to the waist and armed with just a torch and a pistol, the "rats" would often spend hours at a time inching through the humid, dark tunnels engaged in a deadly game of hide and seek. With each movement the rats would have to feel for any suspect root or wire that could detonate a carefully primed booby trap. Some died in the process - many more were dragged screaming from the inky blackness. Various Booby traps were laid everywhere in this labyrinth of Cu Chi. If you were an American soldier squeezing through, the floor would suddenly give away to these lethal pits. The Viet Cong knew exactly which areas to avoid in the complex of tunnels. Address: Ben Suc, Cu Chi District, Thanh Po Ho Chi Minh, VNDirections: Ben Suc, Cu Chi District, Thanh Po Ho Chi Minh, VN
