    The Drive to Cu Chi

being on a personalized tour of the cu chi tunnels this time around. the travel time from downtown saigon in district one is about 46 minutes only (40 kilometers away) as compared to more than 1 hour for a big tour bus and you can have your own sweet time exploring the area with your own personal tour guide (but the cost is a lot expensive than a reguklar big group bus tour, almost double the price). Also, lunch is included in a personalized tour at the famous Ben Nay Restaurant just 7 kilometers away from the entrance to the Cu Chi Tunnels. We booked our tour package at Saigon Tourist.

how to get to Cu Chi

From Sai Gon / Ho Chi Min City it is a distance of about 30-40 minutes to drive to Cu Chi and you will pass through lots of interesting small villages along the way.
I have done this as a halfday-excursion organized by "Saigontourist" for our cruiseship. They provide airconditioned buses and we also got half a litre of bottled water plus a Saigontourist-Baseballcap. The price of the excursion to Cuchi was 35 euros a person and when you stay in a hotel in Saigon, the price might even be cheaper: Click on their webpage below and you will find a wide choice of excursions for all of Vietnam.

    walking through the museum

Walking through the Cu Chi tunnelmuseum is really easy : the ground is flat and small paths will take you through the area of the famous Vietcong- tunnelsystem. Even for wheelchairs this openair-museum is no big problem.
Only when you want to enter one of these tunnels, where you are allowed to creep through, you better check for yourself, wether you like to do it or not. Once that you are inside and there are other people behind of you there is no escape and you have to walk and creep forward without hesitating.
