Read about the coffee bar in a lonely planet book...
The coffee joint is just walking distance from our hotel and we decided to try their vietnamese coffee after our "excursions"... It was almost 10pm and we were glad that the place is still opened... It actually closes quite late (if i remember correctly it's ard 12mn or so)... We were there every night to relax...
The place kinda reminds me of the cafe in the sitcom "Friends" where the ambience is just sooo cosy and great for chilling out with your friends... As an added bonus, this place has the comfiest chairs ever.... Most of the people that patronise the place are tourists...
Our 1st taste of the Vietnamese Coffee was not disappointed at all! Price is reasonable...
If you like coffee, Java is a comfortable place to enjoy it. You'll also have a choice of a dozen or so deliciously flavored smoothies. If you're hungry, check out the menu. I haven't been disappointed yet!
Favorite Dish:
Living so far from home (Los Angeles), I really miss western food. I often come to Java to get my fix. The cheesecake especially satisfies my sweet-tooth. =P
It's not the cheapest place if you're on a tight budget,. A typical meal will cost you about 75,000 dong ($5 US).
I tried out this place from reading reviews on VT. I ordered a club sandwich and iced cappucinno. I assumed the the club sandwich consumed of turkey, ham, and bacon. Apparently, their club sandwich was a chicken salad for us. I couldn't eat the sandwich after knowing it was chicken salad because of the bird flu. The waitress knew I was uncomfortable eating it and she offered to replace it with a tuna salad.
If you suddenly find yourself in a rain storm on Dong Du, duck into this little gem of a place and watch the drama unfold from from a cozy chair.
This very thing happened to us as we were just around the corner from the Java Cafe so we went in to take a load off and sat watching people scurry by the window with newpapers covering their heads and the street sweeper lady with her cart of palm fonds.
An excellent place to ride out one of those infamous tropical storms.
As you can see from the picture above, it's quite large inside and the ceilings are high so you get a nice airy feel, almost as if you were sitting on a porch.
