I heard from locals that whenever people want to impress their guests, they bring them to Vietnam House. I had high expectations of this restaurant from the opinion as well as the picture of my country's president plastered on their staircase wall.
The menu offering was typical. Spring rolls, fish in a hot pot, sauteed veggies, etc. I was waiting for something more indicative of regional specialties. The serving size was quite small.
And what totally turned me off was it took ages for them to serve what we ordered. And they did it lauriat style. Clearing dishes even if they were half eaten to place the next dish. I heard from the other couples (we were a group of 23) present that they have eaten there 3 times and the service was always delayed. It made me want to bonk the head of who decided to eat there.
Frankly, I will not recommend eating in this restaurant. The food is not unique to other local restaurants. Service is awful. Pricing is too high for the stuff in the menu even if you include ambience. Am not even going to mention that one of the waiters who served our table had serious body odor. :(
Favorite Dish: Slow potbaked fish in coconut cream. Soft and creamy.

I’m currently visiting HCM city, and have tried out the Vietnam house. I don’t understand how some VT fellows gave that restaurant 4 to 5 points. I ordered pho bo and fried spring rolls those are most traditional popular dishes of Vietnamese cuisine that can be found eatable everywhere in HCM city. The pho bo is rice noodle with beef broth soup that I found in my bowl with about quarter inch thickness of fat and few slide of beef and tasteless. It costs 65,000 dong ($4.3 USD). In US, it can be found much much better quality for $6.5. For the fried spring rolls, as known as egg roll, I felt that was a thousand year old frozen rolls that were micro waved and then deep fried. Unfortunenatly, I couldn’t eat any of them and the whole meal cost me 10 bucks.

Vietnam House Restaurant is a beautiful colonial house located in the center of Ho Chi Minh City. It is one of few restaurants which has honorably received the leaders, Prince, Princess… of some nations in the world (even George Bush Sr. and Former Philippine President Cory Aquino). With 150 seats, a cozy ambience and a warm service, it becomes a destination for tourists to access gastronomy and Vietnam culture.
Vietnam House is known to be one of the best restaurants specializing in both local Vietnamese and international cuisine. This restaurant is actually a restored French colonial house and renders a traditional ambience with its large French windows and traditionally attired waiters and somber genre of songs. Mostly the services are efficient and it’s a good place for a family to stay at night. You will get ample servings of dishes and mostly the air-conditioned environment is comfortable for guests and the interior decoration is nice and traditional with spaced out sitting arrangements.
Favorite Dish: The food is mostly westernized in nature though they also serve local dishes and the price of the food items mostly vary from US$ 10 to US$ 12 or less than that in some cases. Comparatively it’s more expensive than any average restaurant. The dishes served here mostly include margarita, rice wine, triple sec and lemon Tofu, vegetables, sautéed mushrooms in pepper sauce. While the other main courses include Pineapple fried rice, noodles, Pineapple Beef, Crab Spring rolls etc. Another specialty of Vietnam House is its variety of Vietnamese cuisine and its lunch buffets offering a variety of both local and international cuisine. In order to savor the delectable fare of Vietnam House, located near the Opera House, check out this famous eatery!
favorite foods are: Go Ha San ( sea food salad), Chao Tom (Prawn Meal in Sugarcane Stick), Muc Nuong Sate' (Grilled Calamari with Sate'), Cua Lot (deep fried Soft shell crabs) and Canh Do Bien (Sea Food Soup).

Ate dinner in this restaurant. The servings are ample, the ambience is great, the airconditioning is comfortable, the tables, well-spaced out, but it is the food, yes the food, which will make me come back. They have a pre-set menu worth about $10-12 US dollars that is worth looking into and would already give you a very good sampling of the local cuisine. And this is fine dining.

The Vietnam House is a restaurant we just so happened to come across when we walking around the area of the Sheraton Hotel. It is a nice restaurant with many windows and open air fill and a nice breeze that comes through. If you do eat here ask to sit upstairs because the restaurant is less busier up there and less stuffy. The feel is more intimate upstairs. The food is ok. The restaurant caters to a lot of the tourists that stay in the surrounding area. I felt the dishes were more westernized than traditional Vietnamese fare since many of the dishes on the menus were stir frys. Also the prices are a bit steeper than other restaurants. As you are walking up the stairs of the restaurant you will see pictures of famous people that have frequented the restaurant. My family and I were surprised to see that George Bush, Sr. had eaten here. We wanted to tell the restaurant that for Westerners that is not a good selling feature for the restaurant.
Favorite Dish: I had Pineapple Beef which was tasty. I never had pineapple with beef before but I was pleasantly surprised by the combo. The pineapple just offered a tad bit of sweetness to the grilled beef without being overpowering like the sweet and sour sauce that you often find in Chinese dishes.

It's an elegant but simple restaurant with large French windows along Dong Khoi st. (obviously frequented by foreigners). The 2nd floor is adorned with lacquerware paintings.
It has a large variety of Vietnamese food and offers buffet lunch.
Staff are friendly.
Favorite Dish: Crab
Spring rolls

The food is good for western people. Good place to stay for a family a night. It locates in the center of tourist centre. But the good things is you can sit beside the window and watch a lot of local activities. The services is good.
Favorite Dish: Pineapple flied rice and also the noodle. Don't have much dessert to choose. I can the steam spring roll in other place is better than this restaurent.
