    Cu Chi tunnels are a must when visiting Saigon. Its about 90 minutes bus ride from central Ho Chi Minh City.

    During the Cu Chi Tunnel tour, you will get a chance to fire some shots at the shooting range. The price is about USD5-10 for 10 shots, depending on the type of weapon you choose. It sure is popular with tourists - most of the members in my tour group opted for it. The picture shows the kind of weapons you get to choose from.

    Experience how the VC hid under the tunnels. Interesting but yet eerie at the same time while walking in the tunnels. Watch out for your head!

    History of the tunnel can be obtained from your travel guide book. The practical information about this trip is as follows: - You can take half day tour from Saigon (Sinh Cafe) for US$4 plus the tunnel entrance fee 75,000 don or US$5 (Oct 06). - The trip will take you to a sourvneir shop. - There is a guide during your stay in the tunnel. - If you need hotel pick up, they will charge US$1 more. Sinh Cafe has been around for a long time. This is the sinh cafe that I used in 1995 when I took 3 different tours, mekong delta 3 day tour, 1 day city tour, and one open ticket from Saigon to Hanoi. I re-visited Saigon in Oct 06 and used the same Sinh cafe again to visit Cu chi tunnel. The price is cheap in European standard, but real. After 10 years, the quality of the tour remains as good. They run several tours daily to various places, so you can virtually book the tour when you arrive Saigon.

    I am claustrophic so I was wary of going to see this. But there is so much to see without even going in the tunnels. I am so glad that I went. Our guide was really informative. We went to Ben Dinh which is a part of the tunnels that have been renovated. You get to see how the tunnels were operated, the home made weapons that they made. This is well worth a visit even if you don't go in the tunnels. Cost us $4 for the guide and bus and $5 to get in (each)

    I think other postings pretty much have everything covered regarding CuChi Tunnel. All I can say is the trip is a great lesson to learn and definitely a must-see. Should pair it up with the War Remnant Museum as a re-cap.

    I took a half day tour to cu chi tunnel. This is a must go place if you are in HCMC. The tunnel is 200km long and 10m deep, 3 levels down the ground. Standing here, you will be so amaze on how brilliant vietnamese are and admired them full-heartedly. * Bring your own torch if possible ** We are not wearing somethg special but it rained heavily outside, we just lazy to take off the raincoat.

    I went to see this on a tour combined with the Cao Dai holy see temple. The Tunnels are 11/2hours from Ho Chi Minh city. Admission is not included in the price of the $7us tour. The admission price is 70,000dong. First, you watch an interesting video, then you are taken around and shown the various areas and shown the booby traps, old american tank and other displays. Lastly, you can go down the tunnel. I was there on a hot 35degree day. The tunnel is dark, narrow and not high, you have to bend right over if you are a westerner. It was very hot down there. If you do not wish to go the whole distance, there are exits where you can escape! This was an interesting tour.

    If you are in the slightest bit clostrophobic then do not attempt a tunnel walk though. Its hot, muddy and people in front of you are usually moving at a crawing pace because of the lack of light. There is an exit point half way if you want out early. When you book your tour guide try and request Mr Vin. He's a vietnam vet and knows first hand about the area. We started the tour in a group of 20 and finished with a 100 people listening to this man talk about flying over the area fireing at VC in a chopper!
