...a further note. While Vinasun Taxis have been recommended on this site. Just make sure it's a relatively new one. We just caught a battered taxi, lucky to get out of 1st gear from Ben Thanh Markets back to the Caravelle Hotel. The fare is around the $1-2 mark, Max 20,000VND
This guy tried to rip us off for 400,000 Dong(around $30)he was probably a faker but pissed off when I went to get the Concierge.

Buses are an inexpensive way of getting around the city, especially if you're travelling out of District 1. They're also a great way to see the city. Just go to the bus station near Ben Thanth Market and look at the signs hanging overhead to find the correct bus.

No helmet, No safety belt, just ensure your vehicle come woth a horn. Almost everybody in motorcycle are either handsome or pretty for some reason. The locals made driving a motorcycle looks really coooool..
So I fugure getting around town must be via a motorcycle. What other way to blend in.

Cyclos
These are a fun way to travel around the city, although rather nerve-wracking. The cyclo is like a rickshaw but the driver sits behind the passenger instead of in front. This means that you are pedalled rather dramatically into the oncoming traffic, which consists of fairly lawless cars, buses, motorbikes, bicycles and other cyclos constantly careering across your path.
A rate should always be negotiated before setting off .
