Al Fresco's is the place to go if you need a change from local food.
They have excellent ribs, good pizza, and good salads. I didn't try the Mexican dishes.
Favorite Dish:
Favorite dish is a toss-up between their ribs and the ham & pineapple pizza.
Al Fresco's is an Aussie chain in Hanoi. We were in Hanoi 3 weeks, Vietnam for 5 so every once in a blue moon craved something different. Plus it was right next door to our hotel and easy if you are tired from a day out in the city. They serve ribs, pizza, hotwings, burgers etc. You get the idea of the type of place. It could be a chain like Applebee's etc in the US but actually alot better. Their ribs and wings were very good. Pizza was just ok. The beer was chape and service was always friendly. We were in Hanoi to adopt our 7 month old daughter,, the waitress there gave her a gift before we left. They have several locations in the city and deliver.
Favorite Dish:
Hotwongs and ribs
Another place for pizza is Al Fresco's. This place is a must-go! They offer very good Western food and their servings are really huge. Unfortunately, the prices are really expensive - expect to pay about 10$ per person.
Al fresco's is the best bet in town if you are needing a little taste of home. with the best steak in town and their famous ribs. The also have the best iced tea in the city. it has a large ex-pat clientel. The owner is an Aussie and the manager is Canadien.
Reataurant has a prime location in Hanoi - next to Hoan Kiem lake and the only shopping 'mall' of the city. This is the place, where you want to go after to much rice or noodles just to recover! The menu includes staeks, ribs, pizzas..Everything is in Aussie style and size..You are not going to leave this place hungry!
Favorite Dish:
My absolute favourite menu at Al Fresco's would be: cream of mushroom soup as starter, miniribs (huge!) for main course and finally the best in town apple crumble with ice cream and coffee for dessert. Tiger beer is used for flushing pipes..
Great atmosphere, american, mexican, and italian food, good music, and large portions...but you do pay western prices. An average meal should be under $10 usd.
Favorite Dish:
The pork barbeque ribs are even better than the ribs I've had back home!! If you are just feeling like good western food this is the place to come. They even have thick chocolate shakes to cool you down after a day out in hot and humid Hanoi.
The barbeque chicken club sandwich is also a winner...bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, melted cheese, and all smothered in their exellent barbeque sauce was a big winner for me! I'm hungry just thinking about.
The first Al Fresco's group has opened in Vietnam in 1996 and it becomes very popular to the young Hanoian people today.
My favourites:
- 23 Hai Ba Trung street, Hanoi
- 108, K1, Lang Ha st, Hanoi
