Bach Dinh is a villa on the edge of the large mountain that presents nice views over the Front Beach (Bai Truoc). This mansion was built to house the rich and influential, now it is just a run-down building housing a museum, with cannon are display overlooking the harbor. Leave a Comment

Back Beach is on the eastern side of Vung Tau and is the largest beach in town. I am told it gets busy on weekends, but we arrived on a weekday and it was almost deserted. Leave a Comment

I saw this church in Vung Tau. It is a small church but has interesting mix of Vietnamese and French architecture to it. I am not sure whether it is still in use because it always seems closed.

The Back Beach is a long stretch of sandy beach - a favorite for the locals on weekends. Rent a lazy-men's chair for VND15,000 and enjoy the nice sea breeze with a bottle of beer and some sea food. Take a dip in the sea or play the jet ski.

The Statue of Jesus Christ is the iconic landmark of Vung Tau. It is located atop Small Mount and is reachable by a 20-minute tiring climb up the hill. But the view from the statue is great. You will get a nice view of the sea, Vung Tau city and Back Beach. You can also climb up the statue up to its arms and where you would also get a great view. A trip to Vung Tau would not be complete without visiting this statue.
