Da Lat Market: Market - Inside

Dalat Market (Cho Da Lat) is similar to many of Vietnam’s city markets. It is really an interesting place to my kind of north people who's markets are grey, white and black with quite poor local stuff. Here you find colors, spices, fruits almost everything from clothes to wine and from coffee makers to pirot electronics.

There is always a real spirit in these places and I can skip the museums and rush to markets, my eyes were wide open here all the time. Let's remember the people also, both the sellers and buyers, they build up the feeling and atmosphere.

According to the other sources there are up of more than 1,000 shops in a few multi-storey buildings.

Basically you can find everything here including cheap winter cloths (in case you are not prepared for Dalat’s cool weather.) Check out the market’s food court for local specialties.

What to buy: Wine, flowers, meat, handicrafts, cosmetics, strawberries, candy, household appliances. Don't forget to buy Vietnamese coffee maker, it's cheap and Spices! Buy a lot of Spices!

There are many young end a little bit older woman selling fruits, handicraft and berries on the streets. They are all the time aware, whether it is illegal or they should have paid of the place. A couple of times I saw a police car appearing and the sellers took whole warehouse and disappeared to side streets. It was amazing, in a moment rush streets were just empty.

Look at the smile of strawberry seller, I just like it!

    Souvenirs

As everywhere in Vietnam there will be all kinds of souvenirs one can buy and take home with you. In this particular location I can only remember the local hand made stuff at the chicken village. Silk and weaving items are always a good deal, you can barging on the price if you buy few items but also remember that you can pay the price that it worth for you, after all when back home all those kind of stuff will cost a fortune.

    Vang Dalat Wine

by TheresNoToiletPaper Written Aug 14, 2009

What to buy: Vang Dalat Wine is made & bottled in Dalat. That being said, make sure you buy it there! And ask around to compare prices. Some places were selling a btl for 60 dong but I found them for 35 dong at a little corner store in the middle town. I'm in Mui Ne right now and they're selling it here for 70d/btl!!

What to pay: 30-35 dong for a 750ml bottle

    Fruit & vegies

Dalat's candied fruit "mut" is very much a local specialty and most shops will give you plenty of samples. As well as that there are various fruit wines and plenty of fresh fruit, vegies and also the livestock section.
You will be able to buy woolies here as well if you get a bit cold at night.
The stalls full of flowers, cacti & orchids are lovely.

What to buy: Candied fruit & fruit wine. Strawberry jam is very good. Mulberry & strawberry syrup is nice added to your bottled water for a change.
