N.S. Says: Pack as light as possible. Ask if you can leave most of your luggages to hotel. It makes things more easier. If you want to explore surrounding areas, dont forget GOOD walking boots! Otherwise your legs are killing you after few hour walking on ricefields and climbing...
yuet29 Says: The drinking water at Sapa is slightly more expensive than in anywhere else. For 1litre drinking water, you can get at 5,000D in any city in Vietnam but not sapa. You need to pay around 8,000D for a litre of water.

Lao Cai, the city itself has not much to see. But is the stopover to Sapa - the beautiful spot with nice weather. The tourist train often arrives at 5.30 or 6.00, some will stop for breakfast & rest...
