The cafe at the Royal View Hotel serves nice breakfast as well as dinner. This is included in the price of the hotel room if you are staying here (please see my accomodation tips for more details). I particularly enjoyed the various soups and dishes served during dinner.

I was amazed by many small stalls set up where diners can sit on small stools and barbeque their own meat or corns.

Favorite Dish: There are different sticks of meat and vegetables. Drinks also served. Can mingle with the sellers and other local Vietnamese diners.

Another local restaurant with decent food at good prices. The nem here was pretty good. The mains were a little disappointing. The frogs legs in garlic butter and the beef kebabs were a little on the tough side. We saw some other customers having the hot pot and beef hot plate, which looked and smelt pretty good.

This restaurant is located at the foot of the hill from Victoria Hotel, opposite the Gecko. The staff at this family-run establishment are very friendly. The food is pretty good too. Sit on the small second floor balcony on a chilly evening and try their mixed hotpot (steamboat) - excellent!

They also do a pretty good chocolate banana pancake and french fries.

We decided to try out the food at the hotel's terrace restaurant. The food was alright, but was nothing to shout about. They have decent Nem (fried spring rolls) and rice / noodle dishes at good prices.

We dined here our last night in Sapa and were generally disappointed with the food. I guess our expectations were a little higher considering that the prices at this restaurant were also on the high side. The food was alright, but we left without feeling completely full or satisfied.

The service though was alright as the restaurant is generally quiet with not many patrons.

The pastries, desserts and sandwiches here are excellent! They also have a good breakfast deal that is good value for money. You can also pick up a picnic lunch here (also good value) before embarking on a trek to a nearby village.

There is also a raised platform lounge area where you have to take off your shoes. Very comfortable place to chill and hang out with friends. There is a selection of board games and magazines for guests too.

As close as you will get to the feel and look of a cafe at the seaside in England, this serves up things Brits may be missing while on their travels such as:
Welsh Rarebit, Jacket spuds with beans or beans and cheese, Beans on toast, Cottage pie, Fish and chips etc

While pretty pricey compared to local food, sometimes these things are such a treat, if you miss food like this then its worth it.

What a shame the upstairs pub bit doesnt serve some good ale!!
