There's hardly a nightlife scene in Sapa...
You cannot really describe Sapa as having a nightlife scene.. Yes, there are pubs and restaurants to buy beer and drinks, but they all close around 10pm. Exept of some of the karaoke places though, who cater for Vietnamese middleclass travelers situated in the part of town close to the lake.
A nice pub is well the only proper pub in town, the Red Dragon. A wide selection of beer to be found!
The red dragon pub: Not for night life
Sa Pa is not the place to stay late at night. Like elsewhere in Vietnam, people go early for sleep and wake up early as well. red Dragon pub is not only suitable as a restaurant but being convenietly loacted opposite our hotel wasa good place to have a beer and listening to music before going to sleep. It was great that the owner was among us so you could easily have a chat and get useful information about life in Vietnam.
Dress Code: Casual
I was at Sapa on Saturday and saw this group of boys dancing and playing their musical instruments for tourists in the little park in front of the church at about 9 pm. When they had finished, one of them took a cap around to collect contributions. Many tourists moved away which I felt was improper because if they thought it was good enough for them to stay and watch the whole dance, they should show their appreciation with a little financial support. I gave them 5,000 Dong which is actually very little.

Red Dragon Pub: Run by a British expat
There's not a great deal to do in the evening apart from visiting a few of the towns pubs. This particular pub is run by an English expat who's been here over 10 years. It looks and feels more like an English tearoom than a pub so I felt pretty much at home here! Anyway, it's a small and welcoming place that, luckily, had a fire in the corner so that we could keep warm. They also do some English pub style food such as bangers (sausages) and mash.
