Blue Dragon is a great place to go to when you're still looking for a nice restaurant for dinner. Among the many restaurants located at the riverside, Blue Dragon offered the best food when we went there. I enjoyed Beef with Lemongrass which was really awesome. Furthermore, the location is perfect to watch people passing by. The promenade next to the river is a popular spot for a stroll at night - and it's really cool to just sit there with your fruit shake and dinner and watch all that.
Favorite Dish: beef dishes were great

We tried this place for breakfast, and their omelette is really delicious! Located just at the end of Cam Nam Bridge, Banana Split Cafe makes up a good point to start your day in Hoi An. Sip a fruit shake there, tug in eating omelette or pancakes and then walk over the street to dive in into the hustle and bustle of Hoi An's market.
In case you're looking for a way to get away from Hoi An: Banana Split Cafe offers several travel services such as getting bus tickets, booking tours to the surrounding area etc. as well. It's also an internet cafe (don't use it, though, as the computers are slow and broken) and a laundry service...

This wonderful patisserie is part of the Cargo Club restaurant. The cakes were to die for. Good coffee. This is a great place for a mud cake fix. And people watching. Right in the middle of town.
Favorite Dish: too many to choose from

We were attracted by the pleasant setting here. Views of the river, candle-lit tables and it was busy.
We tried the special set menu. This included an assortment of local Hoi An specialties:
Fried wontons, White Rose (steamed dumplings stuffed with shrimp), fish cooked in banana leaves and a very good squid dish cooked with lime, lemon and peanuts. Finished off with creme caramel for desert. We enjoyed this meal very much. US$5 each.
Favorite Dish: I'd kill to go back for more of that squid!

A very unassuming little cafe.
We had breakfast here when we first arrived while waiting to check in to our hotel next door. The banana pancakes were good.
We enjoyed it so much, we came back again for lunch.
Favorite Dish: The Hoi An speciality "Cao Lau". Flat noodles mixed with bean sprouts, greens, slices of pork and topped with croutons served in a large bowl full of broth. Delicious. A must to try while in Hoi An.

Upon my arrival at Hoi An, I bumped into a girl whom I met earlier on my trip and she was recommending a stall which sells Cao Lau at only 12,000 dong a bowl. Cao Lau is a local specialty food which not available at any other parts of Vietnam and the world. Quan Hung serves the best Cao Lau I’ve had in Hoi An and they are situated along Bach Dang street and their price is really cheap. Beside this stall there are also other choices which you can choose and thus I had dinner here 2 nights in a row.

After traveling for quite sometime my boyfriend and I finally decided to treat ourselves to a nicer restaurant. We weren't going to but then we heard people raving left and right about this place. We showed up on our last night here in Hoi An and the pwer was out. No problem. The place was nicely lit with candles and the staff promptly brought us frozen napkins to keep ourselves cool. We were just taking the first few sips of our drinks when the power came back on. The restaurant is small and charming.
The menu is a Vietnamese/Cuban fusion. There's lots of spicy Cuban flavors intertwined with fragrant Vietnam tastes.
I had the the prawns wrapped with beef and sauteed in a rum and lemongrass butter. Divine!
Matt had the grilled cube steak with mango salsa and rice noodle.
I can't describe exactly how intensly satisfying our food was. We're both chefs from San Francisco and this is one of the best restaurants we've ever been to.
The menu is top notch and should not be missed!

Address: In the center of town off La Loi.
This is a great little street stall right past the market and along the river. There are a few tables set up and an outdoor kitchen. Cau lau is the the specialty dish in this town. It's noodles topped with meat or tofu and herbs. At the time of writing it was only 12,000 dong which is only around $.075. There's a little menu given to you when you sit which makes it easier for some people who may be intimated by the street stalls.
Also Mr. Hung is a funny character. Make sure to stoop by and have a bite.
Favorite Dish: Cau lau = noodles with meat or tofu
white rose = steamed shrimp wontons.
fried wontons = fried wontons stuffed with prk and topped with steamed veggies.

You will be pleasantly surprised at how many restaurants Hoi An has to offer. Hoi An is known for spectacular local cuisine.
The nightlife of Hoi An involves a handful of watering holes offering different atmospheres. The bars are all walking distance from each other so it's perfect for a crawl & easy to make an informed choice. If you want to pull a naughty late one there's secret spots outside the old town.

The Lighthouse Restaurant has a wonderful view on the Thu Bon River and the old quarter of Hoi An. It has a family style atmospere. The architecture is between Vietnamese, colonial and French. It also has a Dutch touch.
All above makes it very special and it's fantastic if you want to ascape the bussy old town of Hoi An.
They have a free boat ride from Bach Dang Street to Lighthouse Restaurant.
The Lighthouse Restaurant not only offers delicious food but also interesting bicycle tours and cooking classes. You realy have to cook. It's no demonstration.
Favorite Dish: Our favorite was: as a starter Shrimps with Advocado. The main menu we had wa Stuffed Squid, Blue Cheese Salad and Thien Ly Flower. For our desert wo ordered Linh's famous apple cake with ice, real nice black coffee with Cointreau. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!
