The Cargo Club was very crowded during Tet and is, apparently, throughout the tourist season and beyond. It serves breakfast, brunch, lunch, tea, snacks all day, and dinner to a (for Hoi An) late supper.
Exquisite pastries are available, on the ground floor, for eating in or take out. The small sidewalk cafe is an especially popular spot for tea, coffee, or soft drinks plus pastries or sandwiches.
Upstairs is a formal dining room that stretches to a balcony facing the river.
Favorite Dish: At dinner General Tso's Chicken was as well done here as anywhere I've had it. The meat (all white) was succulent; the veggies were well cooked but still crisp; and Vietnamese rice, good everywhere, was fine.\
At lunch a tuna fish sandwich was perfect on a baguette was perfect.

Set in a French colonial building, with an exquisite garden planned by a leading Vietnamese designer, Brothers Cafe is one of the finest restaurants in Hoi An. Most tables are inside; those on the patio overlook the Thu Bon River with its interesting traffic in daytime and colorful lights (on the other side) at night.
Favorite Dish: Sweet and sour prawns. The "sweet" was less sweet than in most Cantonese dishes; the "sour" was less sour and more spicy. With steamed rice -- and complimentary appetizers -- it made a splendid meal.
