well, i dont think that you can really class this as a danger or warning but i didnt know what else to put it under hehe, but on the way up to Halong bay we came across this huge amount of traffic but not in the sense of vehicles but in animals haha, only in vietnam would you still be able to see so many ducks in a row, and so unafraid of humans or cars!! They would have been quite happy walking in front of the bus for miles haha...

    Beware the Bee, er Wasp?

Take care to avoid this fella when you're hiking in Catba National Park. While it looks pretty, it has a nasty temper and it stings! While one sting is harmless, accumulated stings might result in death. Yup, these little fella don't drop dead after stinging you, hell, yes, their little bottoms don't drop off...

Halong bay is beautiful in itself, even as Australian Vietnamese myself and girlfriend is korean we got treated like dirt, got double charge for kayaking which we didn't even up doin and was told that we will get a refund due to their lack of organisation and information only to be told later we were inform and it's was our fault which was a load of *** cause we had other people to back us up so never got our money back which was 20US.Then a men try charge us 60,000vnd for one beer when we was told it was 20,000 by a lady two second ago so he got shafted and it happen again at another shop.Later spoke to three American guys they got charge 55US where we pay 25US for exact same trip through our same hotel h81I guest them not refunding our money is their way of making their money back of us. It's a disgrace how they think they can treat tourist the way they do, I know we all have to make a living but there a right way and an immoral way of doin it and a lot of them cry poor but it's a lot of bull. Thousand of tourist come to this place and and get rip off cause even 5dollar goes a long way in this place so times that by how many people they scam it all adds up!! Personally 6hr is more than enough to see the bay it becomes the same and boring after awhile but each to their own. It's a shame that greed has ruin what is a great place for tourism, greed and disrespect for tourist will be their own undoin one day I think!! Got some beautiful photos for memories but once is enough Australia has much more beautiful places and people I'm very proud to call it home for the last 36 years!!

    Cattle class

Sadly, our trip to the lovely and atmospheric Halong Bay was aborted - by our own choice - due to the ridiculous overcrowding of the bus that came to pick us up. I had a few qualms when I first saw the bus, which were exacerbated by the number of people that continued to pile into it, along with the ever-increasing pile of luggage that was obscuring the driver's rear mirror, as we wended our way around the windy streets of Old Hanoi. Just as they were about to start filling up the aisles, we'd had enough and decided to get off the bus and head back to our hotel. The prospect of another 3-4 hours in those cramped conditions, with no prospect of moving our legs out of the back of the poor people in front of us until the rest stop, was just too much to contemplate. Not quite the romantic New Year's Eve experience were we so eagerly anticipating :(
