This place had some interesting local specialities to try. Also a nice little bar & free pool
Favorite Dish: A local dish called "Banh Khoai". Very thin rice pancakes served with shrimp, pork and bean sprouts, you roll them up yourself with a special peanut sauce.

We had a few meals here. It's also a bar so you can just have a drink. Free pool tables upstairs along with free internet. It gets pretty lively here at night. The walls are covered with traveller's graffitti. I guess they must re-paint every now & then to start again.
Favorite Dish: Can't remember the name of it, but a very nice chicken & noodle dish. They also do chocolate brownies and icecream.

What lovely friendly people. A family-run restaurant, with simple food, good service and they were very interested to find out more about us, and where we came from.
The french fries were a bit ordinary, though we did eat late.
Favorite Dish: Simple noodle dishes. Nice cold beer. Halida, I think.

This down to earth Sidewalk cafe is really excellent. The 2 times we went there, the diners were a mix of locals, expats, and lucky/savvy travellers like ourselves. Service is prompt and friendly, and the food is just superb. Prices are par for Vietnam, which means you get amazingly delicious plates for around $2-$3. You won't regret eating here.

The Fuji Japanese restaurant is a top class restaurant inside the posh Imperial Hotel... definitely on the expensive side, but very well worth the money for first class sishi and sashimi, prepared by a true Japanese chef.
You can choose to eat at western tables or at japanese tables, like we did. In this case, remember to remove your shoes before stepping on the platform where the tables are located.
Favorite Dish: Perfect sashimi... once you try it prepared by a professional, you'll notice the difference: cut in the right way, the taste is sublime... and quite different from the way it would taste if you had cut the fish yourself... sashimi is definitely an art.
The sushi was great too... we had salmon sushi and eel sushi (in the photo) - by far the best I have ever tasted.

The Club Garden Restaurant is a beautiful garden restaurant with great food and a very peaceful setting... its sister restaurant just down the road, the Tropical Garden Restaurant, is a lot larger and more noisy... with music and happy hour.
Favorite Dish: I found the mushroom soup, in particular, very good. I had some lemongrass duck which was good, too. The flambee banana, which my partner had, seemed promising too... and flamed to your table.

It looks pleasant inside. But we expected better from this French/Vietnamese restaurant. We ordered lunch, the food was'nt great. My boyfriend ordered Croque Monsieur, which turned out to be a small cheese and ham toastie. The service was poor, we had to ask 3 times to get what we ordered. The Coffee was poor.
It has a good write up in LP from a few years ago, not worth a visit.
Favorite Dish: None of it

This place simple does the best spring rolls and Vietnamese food in Hue and for the unbelievably low price you can’t go wrong. You’ll kick yourself if you miss this place. Vegetarians welcome!
Favorite Dish: Spring rolls and spring rolls and more spring rolls.
Also try the rectangular peanut, sesame seed and chewy treat called Thuan Hung. You should be able to pick a pack of 6 for less than a dollar.

The Mandarin Café is a tiny place that’s ok for a quick bite or beer in the evening. You’ll certainly be excused if you give the food a pass look at the café’s real attraction, Mr. Cu’s stunning photographs of Hue. Each frame is marvelously crafted to perfection. Best yet, why not buy some of his superb artistry in the form of postcards, cause they’re certainly original.
You can also organize tours through the café. I’m not a big fan of tour groups but I relented and went because of the weather. Through no fault of the café, the tour went off bad. I ended up leaving before the tour was over cause I was so pissed off. I got a refund, which was amazing and on top of that Mr. Cu felt so bad that he charted a private boat for me free of charge. I refused endlessly but he kept insisting. He is an honest man that runs an honest business, kind of rare of Vietnam.
In short, you can believe that Mr. Cu guaranties your satisfaction and is a trustworthy man to book your tours with.

A: Well, you might find an old man who remembers that particular event, but even then, most Vietnamese guides are under 30 years old.
