While I was in Hue, I took the time, as everyone should, to try the pedicab. No wonder it was cheap, since I had to do all the working...
Buy the pedicab driver a beer, and you have a friend for life. I think. Do not forget to have a beer yourself, 'cos it's really, really hot driving the pedicab driver around...

We did most of our sight seeing on foot but when we came out of the Citadel and started walking to the museum we were demented by cyclo drivers. We continually said no but they waited until we came out of the museum and started waving at us. They basically just wore us down and we each paid $US1 for a short rid back into the main streets.

There are daytours along the Perfume River including visits to tombs (Tu Duc, Thieu Tri, Minh Mang) and the Thien Mu Pagoda.
Book at any hotel or travel cafe. Price was about 2 USD, going from 8 to 14:00, including lunch.

This bicycles for passengers are a common way of transport in Hue. Though nowadays motorcycles are getting more and more popular, you can still see many cyclos around.
Being more slow and silent than motos, these vehicles are much better to have a touristic tour around the citadel.
Their fares are similar to those of the motos. Bargain in advance. U can hire them for a whole day, a tour, a few hours...

There were loads of cyclo drivers outside our hotel. We negotiated with two of them to take us for a 1 hour ride around Hue. We paid $3 each. Which was probably too much but heck who cares!
The two drivers were very entertaining with stories as we went along. At one point they had a play race with each other.
When we were out next day with our guide they saw us and were calling to us. Our guide says that they will not forget us and if we come back to Hue they will be our drivers for always.

Hue has a very small airport that has maybe one, at most 2 runways. It shouldn't be surprising considering the small size of the city. It was a long way from town, and we couldn't see it from the road at all.
It seems to be a converted military airport, or maybe one that's dual-use. These old Russian Mi-8 helos are sitting on the runway. For a split second I had a misgiving that this was to be our ride. But luckily it was only an Airbus. Phew.

Rent a bicycle for about $1 a day. It's a nice way to view the perimeter and surrounding neighborhoods of the Citidel. The streets are shaded by trees, making for a pleasant afternoon ride. You can rent a bicycle at any guesthouse or restaurant in the city.
