Old Parliament House is an important part of Australia's history as a nation. It was affectionately known as the ‘wedding cake’ when the Federal Government moved to Canberra in 1927 and this was its first home.

The building was supposed to be a temporary structure but Parliament continued to sit here until 1988, when the new Parliament House opened on Capital Hill.

    Open daily 9am to 4pm

Old Parliament House made headlines for more than sixty years as home to Australia's Federal Parliament from 1927 to 1988.
