Canberra is a city which is very well spread out over the surrounding plains and hills. As such, you can actually see wild animals such as kangeroos especially when you are in the suburb areas. Do be careful not to provoke these animals, and be alert during driving especially look out for big animals which may jump out from the sides of roads.
When I was at Canberra in Sep-Oct 2008, it was spring time and I could see lots of willow pollination (in the form of floating flowers just like cotton wool), especially at the park area on the banks of Lake Burley Griffin (see photos).
For those who are allergic to such things, do be careful especially if you are near the lake during spring time.
