Holiday Australia and Save

by Australiea

My favorite thing about Australia is the eating districts in Melbourne, the beaches, and the starry outback nights. My fondest memory of Australia was of Darwin, was when I traveled around doing some seasonal work a few years back, I found myself on a Mackrel trawler so close to the equator, as Mars happened to orbit earth so closely that when I woke I saw two planets hovering on the horizon.Apparently when the earths atmosphere (upper and lower) is very still, and there is high humidity , the moisture in the air can act as a magnifying glass! Mars was enormous too. MY TIP- I have built web sites to help gain exposure for the Aussie Travel Saver. Visit them and you can get a code to save 10% on the Aussie Travel Saver. A product to promote travel to Australia. This Australian holiday pass has freebies and some great offers, it also provides you with code for online discounts on...

Place of interest in Australia

by Lerie

I'd been to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Gold Coast. My friend in Australiatold me I missed out beautiful Tasmania. I also recommend you visit South of New Zealand if you've no plan of going back that way, at least visit that area, it has one of the most beautiful scenic view of the world, place call Melford sound. Beautiful harbor of Sydney. Love shopping in Australia, you can get quite a great bargain.

World's tallest flowering trees

by iandsmith

The big trees had lured me back. I had an appointment with Forestry Tasmania and the committee formed to register and maintain such living treasures were having a field day on a particular Thursday. Thus it was that I joined the mini-bus trip to see Centurion, a tree unknown the year previously when I had booked in for the tall trees tour. This is located in an area not all that far as the crow flies from the showpiece Tahune Airwalk. It is however, a world away from the place where over 100,000 tourists flock each year. In fact, less people have viewed this tree than attempt Mount Everest each year.We were escorted to its location up a goat track, dampened due to the recent rains, to view this giant of the forest that measures 99.6 metres in height. We also viewed three others whilst there, one of which was the impressive and photogenic The Prefect, not to be confused with The Perfect...

Bondi Beach?

Yes, here's something you may not know Bondi Beach for - a sculpture symposium!Held towards the end of the year in November, invitees can display their work and sell it off afterwards. This way you get to see fresh stuff every year and the artisitically inclined get to make some money. Well, some of them do.

Not to everyone's taste

by iandsmith

The thing about the Airwalk is that it's changed the area dramatically. Before, those who loved the forest used to visit with few others taking the time. Today, it's a totally different crowd and there are thousands more of them. They've come not so much to see the trees but to get the thrill of going along a 20 metre high boardwalk (actually, metalwalk). The climax (pic 1) is the seemingly unsupported section at the last lookout. Only about half who arrive at the start will actally go out to the end; the swaying motion tends to put many off for some reason.I sometimes lament that it's no longer the purists who come here but then I think that at least it does get the person who wouldn't normally come into a forest here and, hopefully, some of it will rub off on them and their children and we'll have new generation who appreciate the real Australian bush. It's located 28 kilometres from...

Morning has broken

by iandsmith

As already mentioned, I do like our beaches and, one of the nice things you can do is walk along them, especially at sunrise. If you can get up in time, make the effort once in your life. You will not be disappointed. I certainly wasn't the morning I took this picture about 30kms north of Coffs Harbour at a place called Mullaway where I once owned a house. Sadly, I sold the house and all the memories from there are what I am left with. I traded it for a motorhome that gives me more memories of more places, such as you see in the other photos shown here.

Windy Harbour

by iandsmith

Windy Harbour is a holiday settlement situated on 190 hectares of a Crown reserve, surrounded by D'entrecasteaux National Park on the south coast of Western Australia about 90km south of Manjimup and 27km south of Northcliffe. Approximately 220 cottages have been developed on individual leases since the early 1900's. Leasehold tenure, seasonal occupation and a strong community spirit have generated a settlement of unique character. After the great depression, inexpensive camping holidays on the south coast were favoured by many of the south west timber workers during the Christmas break when mills ceased to operate for several weeks. It was during these times that the strong social ties and community spirit, which still typify the Windy Harbour settlement, were first established. Fishing has always been, and still is, a major recreational activity at Windy Harbour and one of the principal...

Karijini National Park

by iandsmith

Karijini National Park is the second largest national park in Western Australia. Just north of the Tropic of Capricorn, its climate can best be described as tropical semi-desert. The ideal times to visit the park are late autumn, winter and early spring. Winter days are warm and clear, however the nights are cold and sometimes frosty.Karijini National Park protects many different wildlife habitats, landscapes, plants and animals of the Pilbara. Wildflowers vary with the seasons. In the cooler months the land is covered with yellow-flowering cassias and wattles, northern bluebells and purple mulla-mullas. After rain, as with any desert landscape, many plants bloom abundantly. It is also home to a variety of birds, red kangaroos and euros, rock-wallabies, echidnas and several bat species. Geckos, goannas (see pic 2), dragons, legless lizards, pythons and other snakes are abundant. Huge...
