Firetwirling on the Bay

by Amelei

BYRON BAYIf you havnt guessed by now i like to do things a little differently.Byron Bay is ....well its Byron Bay really. It lives in a hub of its own...... Although maybe not the most 'hip and happening' little town, it is deffo worth a look. It is the most easterly point in Austalia and is home to the 'alternative' culture, or those wanting to conform to be....The nightlife, i found is alive and unpredictable!Theres nothing greater than closing time at the pub, youre somewhat (well in my case) blind drunk. You walk over to the beach and it seems everything comes to life. There are people everywhere just chilling out, playing music, talking and singing. My story went something a little like this.....Went to pub, got drunk, went for a walk over to the beach (walking ,stumbling you know??).I sat down and just observed the place. The roar of the ocean, the singing in the distance, there was...

CINEMAS: Some more unusual nightlife tips maybe???

by Amelei

DENDY CINEMAShowing the latest and best in quality film releases, the Dendy is the only cinema in Brisbane that offers a world of appreciation for finer cinema goers.Located in the heart of the city at 346 George St, the Dendy Cinema is one of the few authentic 1940s cinemas left standing. Its history begins in the 1940s as the Lyceum Cinema. No dress code really , just go as you are.Dendy shows some really interesting movies away from the main stream vibe. Theres loads of really great Art House and Foreign films.

kings cross. sydney.: KINGS CROSS.SYDNEY.NAUGHTY BLEND OF RAUCOUS NIGHT.

by dhaval972

Although i spent lot of time in qld, i liked the night life of sydney.there's lot more then mentioned here.but i will share about kingscross. Kings Cross is a naughty blend of classy establishments and raucous night life. Here you will find internationally renowned restaurants and strip joints in the same block. The area never closes. Its an all night escapade for travelers and sydneysiders. This area was known as Henrietta Town initially, in honor of the wife of Governor Macquarie, the colonys second Governor. It was set aside as an Aboriginal reserve, eventually it became a wealthy subdivision of the city itself. It became known as the cross in reference to the crossing of two major roads. In 1890 the area became known as Queens Cross. It wasnt until King Edward the VII was crowned in 1905 that it became Kings Cross as it is known today. The street is full of constant activity, day or...

The Sphinx: Something for the over 25's

by Sweetberry1

Not really into the nightclub scene myself, but if you are down Geelong, Victoria way, the Sphinx is a place you might enjoy. I believe it is a over 25's age group, and I could probably get in if I show some ID, but I have never tried.. LOL.... Dress to kill.. ;-) Or neat casual.

Penneshaw: Watch the Penguins Parade on Kangaroo Island

by AKtravelers

The Penguin Parade in Penneshaw, Kangaroo Island, South Australia. Because of the natural setting, it's better than Philip Island's Penguin Parade. The party animals are dressed in tuxes? Okay, that's not quite true. But take the penguin tour that starts by the beach in Penneshaw and you will never forget it. Adult fairy penguins march ashore once darkness obscures them from predators. Then they find their immature offspring, who had spent the day hiding among the shore rocks and vegetation, and feed them. Dinner is regurgitated fish (yum!). The attached photo is of a molting adolescent penguin hiding during the afternoon. You will be surprised at how noisy the penguins are! They really know how to whoop it up! The penguins, of course, dress formally, but that's not required of people (though I'm sure it would be an interesting conversation starter to show up in a tux!) Instead, wear a...

Southern Cross

by darthmilmo

The Southern Cross is one of the most recognized constellations in the Southern Hemisphere. For hundreds of years, the sailors used to use it to guide themselves as they transverse the southern oceans of the globe. Today, you can admire at night and dream about those glorious days. This picture shows the Southern Cross at the top center. Please note that the cross is sideways.

Star Gazing in the outback

by darthmilmo

Perhaps the best thing to do in the evenings while in the Outback is stargazing. It is so simple. All you have to do is look up at the bright night sky. The best nights are those where the moon doesn’t rise. You are the entertained to a full display of bright starts, distant galaxies, and even our own Milky Way. This backdrop of the moon was beautiful! Casual
